'62 is the best looking Corvette ever built in my opinion. They weren't very hi tech though...they used a '54 Chevalay Bel Aire chassis.

I thought the color code was stamped on a plate on the firewall way back in the day.

on the 62 vette
the serial number is located within the engine compartment and secured to the upper portion of the steering column.

The Paint Code will not be on the serial number plate attached to the '62 Vette steering column. I have seen some paint codes on a sticker attached to the inside of the center console door....Nice car, TUIB, Good Luck!!

Thanks Larry....Post a picture of a car of my dreams when I'm not in a position to buy it.

I would say it would not be my prefered color combo either...but I said at one time IF I COULD GET ONE COLOR WOULD NOT MATTER......but I seen a mint green one at Auburn a few years ago that I would not have been able to leave that color

WildKat.....I am just about certain there is no color code on Vettes before a certain age.....thats why they are always red on the older models....this is a 3 owner car and I assume the original color....I owned a 61 and a 62 Vette many years ago....62 is also my favorite

owned this '62 about 1978-1980...paid $4,800.....sold it for $6400. a couple of years later.....thought I was king making $1,600. on a car

I owned a BLACK '59 w/Silver Coves, Black Hard top and Black Soft top w/Red Leather Interior...it had a 4 spd, positraction, 3/4 race cam! Man, it was stunning! Paid $1,500 for it in '67 when I returned from Viet Nam/Thailand...ended up selling it for $1,000 on trade-in for a '68 VW Bug! Who knew it would be worth BIG BUCKS today?! Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Larry you are right, No color codes on the older ones.
The only way you may be able to tell the original color.......
The factory put the original color in grease pencil behind the pass seat on the fberglass.
If it was a special color as this one is,
Fawn Beige and Fawn Beige interior it may still have the pencil mark behind the seat.
I believe they did this 58 thru 62
On 54 and 55 they put the color behind the trunk partition

Mike is correct - at least on 58's and 59's - grease pencil on npassenger side behind seat. I had two neighbors one had a 58 one a 59 and that is how both determined factory color.

Got to know what to write on the check don't you.

These type of cars are toys if your asking then more then likely you can afford it. I like the early vettes but have never looked past the 68's.
