October 3,1930s ‘50’s Rocker Eddie (“Summertime Blues”) Cochran is born into a musical family. 1938 Felix Pappalardi, producer of Cream’s Disraeli Gears” and “Wheels Of Fire” albums and bassist for Mountain, is born. 1938 1940s At age ten Elvis Presley makes his first public appearance. He sings “Old Shep,” a song he later recorded, at the Mississippi-Alabama Dairy Show. He wins 2nd place and receives $5. 1945 Fleetwood Mac guitarist, singer, arranger Lindsey Buckingham is born. 1947 1950s Texas guitar ace Stevie Ray Vaughn is born. 1954 1960s The raucous Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee, enters the world. 1961 The Animals’ self-titled debut album enters the charts. 1964 1970s Creedence Clearwater Revival stalls at #2 again when the Country influenced “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” peaks. 1970 1970s Bruce Springsteen launches a U.S. tour in Ann Arbor. What’s notable here is that he forgets the words to “Born To Run.” Later Bob Seger joins Springsteen on “Thunder Road.” 1980 1980s Blue Oyster Cult’s great “Burnin’ For You” barely nicks the Top 40 while E.L.O.’s “Hold On Tight” peaks at #10. Journey’s breakthrough ballad “Who’s Crying Now” goes to #4. Meanwhile, The Kinks play New York’s Madison Square Garden for the first time. 1981 Any album with the brilliant “Dude (Looks Like A Lady)” and the boppin’ “Rag Doll” is going to be a hit. Aerosmith’s “Permanent Vacation” enters the album charts. Also, hitting the charts are R.E.M.’s “Document,” Rush`s “Hold Your Fire” and “A Momentary Lapse of Reason,” Pink Floyd’s first post-Roger Waters. Meanwhile, John Mellencamp’s “Paper In Fire” peaks at #9 but gets beat out by Heart’s “Who Will You Run To” which gets to #7. 1987 1990s With classic songs “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova” Oasis releases their “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory” album. 1995 "Dude Looks Like A Lady"
