Seemed like every driver wants to put it in the "thats Talladega for you" category. Rusty was just as digusted as Mark. Alot of angry drivers. I have been to that race alot of times. It is crazy exciting, but I think something might have to change. I don't know what. Take the plates off, then what? Let them go 230? Most drivers seem to think that they will be safer that way. No big packs. Maybe they are right. Bill Elliot went up into the stands at 200 and they said, "thats it". Clear out the first 10 rows and let them go. No easy answers.------------------ BackinBlack

Some of the drivers took responsibility for the wrecks, some blame the plates, but when you think of it...the plates aren't the factor at why these guys insist on ramming eachother. They may be the reason they are bunched up, but not why they insist on playing bumper cars. At 230 mph they go airborn... Mikey and Scot Riggs would have had much more severe crashes at those speeds. There is nothing more boring than to watch 2 or 3 cars lap everyone a few times....I actually stopped watching for a while a few years back because the races were not very entertaining... I find todays Nascar great entertainment.... you just have to take the bad with the good.. and from what i have seen .. there is more good than bad..jmo

I feel just the opposite. I have dropped all my race tickets and hardly pay any attention to the races anymore. All NASCAR does now is add more rules that have not improved racing. I liked it much better in the 70's and 80's. I have no interest in watching a freight train go around the track. Let 'em race and I'll start watching again.

My take is that the cars will not go 230 if the plates are removed. NASCAR can regulate the speeds by spoiler height and angles,,,front and rear. Let 'em race! Also,,I'm sick of these provisionals making the field. Let the fastest 43 race,,,the rest can go home.******************************************************* On a lighter note,,,I had picked three of the top five finishers. I didn't know DJ had the '06 generation Daytona/Ford test motor in his UPS car today, until the end. That Ford had some legs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Jim, You are correct. Entertainment is what it's all about now. I sure miss the RACING like it used to be! I'm a racer. I've been in the pits and in the cars most of my life. It all went downhill for me when FOX took over the broadcasting. There's way to much fluff, graphics and hype for me anymore. NASCAR is all about promotion not racing. BTW, any driver that has so little repect for his equipment as to burn it up and junk it by doing burnouts should be fired instantly. He would be if it was about racing and not about entertainment. Bumping and rubbing are a part of racing and it's what I always loved about my sport. Many of todays drivers seem to see nothing wrong with taking a cheap shot to get a guy out of their way. They seem to think, so what if they crash a few cars? It puts on a good show for the spectators and they don't feel the financial effects. NASCAR gets the publicity they crave and the hype goes into the next race. NASCAR warns everyone but basks in the controversy. It's all about the mighty dollar anymore. Maybe if some of todays drivers had paid their own way instead of working with mega bucks they would drive a little different. To me it seems that what's missing these days is respect. Buying rides and fast tracking does little to help a driver gain maturity. With maturity comes respect. Respect for your equipment, respect for your competitors and respect for your history are all signs of a smart and matured driver.

All good points Larry. Jeff actually said much the same after the race, about it was up to the drivers to stop puting front ends where they don't belong. It is entertainment, great entertaiment imo. Those packs of cars coming by every 45 seconds ,3 or 4 wide is an incredible rush no matter what anybody says. Been to most of the plate races the last 7 or 8 years. If it weren't, there wouldn't be all those people spending big bucks now to go to these events. Maybe that is a better description, an event. Not racing as pure racers want to remember it. I think AC might have it right. Slow them down other ways instead of the plates, and like Larry says, theses drivers got to do the rest. When I spend that kind of $ to get to the race, somewhere to stay, and the ticket itself, I want a rush. I want to get to Bristol someday, totally different racing, still will be a rush. Both kinds are big events, big rushes for the fans. There is big competition for that entertainment buck. I will be there in Daytona in Feb. 15 straight. Yeah, some of the rules suck, but I aint missing that event or that RUSH! Whatever you want to call it...........

all sports seem to evolve this way.....hockey, wrestling baseball....it will depend on your individual outlook to decide if its for the better , or for the worse. I enjoy todays Nascar more than I ever have, as Tom said "its a rush"... but I also love watching the old days on Speed channel.... classics, pure racing without the do-dads and frills... both are great... its all about the adrenelin rush....
