Neighbor bought an AquaBlur SSR and he was kind enough to give Pat a ride.

Top down at 60 mph - didn't have to hang onto my hat, very pleasant ride. Could talk and listen to the radio without problem.

Top up at 100+ - great acceleration and the ride was very comfortable and felt safe. Lots of nice interior features and the truck bed has lots of space - makes it much easier to travel and haul stuff.

Just checked the chevy website and it said that the 2006 model has a auto with 390hp and the manual has a 400hp, is that the same as the 2005 models?

I believe I could enjoy this vehicle. Maybe this is our next toy. We might say good bye to "Pumpkin".

Yes that is the same as the 05's.

Glad you got to drive/ride in one. Now you can understand why I like it so much. More practical, and a lot more comfortable.

The 06 has a couple options not available on the 05's one being a chrome appearance package. Everything that was satin finished in the 05 can now be optioned as chrome. As well as two new paint schemes. Black & Silver, as well as a very nice blue.

I believe they made some change in the headers to go from the 390 to 400 HP.

Has been hard to get back to driving the Kat for me. I have but sparingly. Will take it out more this winter, I hope. Still love the Kat but the SSR is a nice ride!

Maybe, but to me it looks like they just changed where they rate the HP.

05's were rated 390 hp @ 5400

06's are rated at 395 @ 5700 with an auto and 400 @ 6000 with a stick.

The 2006 Chevrolet SSR adds a new intake manifold and revised engine tuning to increase power to 400 horsepower when equipped with the available 6-speed manual transmission. Power remains at 395 horsepower with the standard 4-speed automatic transmission. A two-tone appearance package is offered with either Smokin’ Asphalt over Ricochet Silver Metallic or Ricochet Silver Metallic over Smokin’ Asphalt. Pacific Blue Metallic is also offered as an exterior color.

You feel no difference between 05 + 06 with automatic when driving. Our local dealer offer them with 404hp + 450hp and no limmiter .
I hope that they offer the new 6L60 Transmission for the SSR soon. The new corvette 6 speed automatic is the first GM step in the transmission " realtime". Like on most new cars, you have a short 1. and 2. gear and a 5 and 6. overdrive set up.
You can shift the gears from the steering wheel to !
Well, we will see.
Its interesting to see how cheap 2004 SSR are gettin now.
4000miles used one are for $ 24000 to buy, still dropping.

You will miss the Prowler, I was thinking about getting a SSR but the look of it died for me. The Prowler I never get tried of...
