Tonight on the news they were talking about how rapidly the cost of natural gas has been climbing of late. The piece went on to say how expensive it is going to be this winter for people who use natural gas to heat their homes.

Wholesale prices have moved up 20 to 32 cents depending on supplier on gasoline this week. Citgo supply is out on east coast for 5 to 10 days.

Cost for low sulfur diesel (road diesel not heating oil) rose 40 to 60 cents last night depending on supplier. Severe shortage of diesel due to 3 refineries who produce more diesel than other grades are down and still do not have power.

If you use road diesel for personal or business use, get it before the prices hit the street.

The cheapest I seen tonight on my way home from work regular unleaded for $2.39 a gallon.

Now my truck (Cummins Diesel) I put $81 in fuel saturday night at $3.12 a gallon at the Truck stop.

Unleaded is 2.42 and Diesel was $3.45 at the station (Speedway) close to the house..........I DON'T UNDERSTAND DIESEL FUEL BEING $1.03 A GALLON MORE THAN GASOLINE

The Diesel option was over $4,000 more in `95 and my truck has 88,000 miles. I get 20 MPG on the road and 15 around town which is VERY GOOD for a 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive extended cab 8' bed truck, BUT it will NEVER cost less to operate than a gas motor truck at these prices.

They claim it is the Home Heating FUEL OIL that makes it cost so much in the winter. Before there were so many diesels on the road it was ALWAYS cheaper fuel than gas.....THOSE WHERE THE DAYS.

Snow Person...just be happy that you don't have a Chevalay/Izuzu Diesel...they cost 6 grand over the 496 gas engine. No way will you ever "catch up" if you owned one of them. People that buy diesel pickups are kidding themselves or else they are trucker wannabes. Up keep on a diesel pick up is triple what it is on a gasoline powered pick up. I used to do cost comparisons on them based on 200,000 miles of usage. At 100,000 miles, you are still 2500 bucks in the hole with the Power Stroke diesel figuring the diesel gets 40% better mileage!! True enuff...diesels will last longer than 200,000 miles, but the bodies on those trucks won't!

Here in Destin,FL, premium has decreased $0.34 a gallon over the last two weeks. I guess Exxon/Mobil decided that $34 Billion profit the last quarter was excessive!!!!!!! They really do think we're stupid.

Out of curiosity I asked a good friend, who owns and auto service and repair business, how increasing petroleum prices have affected his bulk oil costs. He actually had to stop and think for a minute, saying it really has not been an issue, maybe 10% in the last year.

If we were to believe in all the causes that some would like us to believe, bulk motor oil would increase proportionatly with other petroleum products.
