Elvis Presley makes his first of three appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. He performs "Reddy Teddy," "Don`t Be Cruel" and "Hound Dog" shown from the waste up so his gyrations don`t offend. The power still comes through. 1956
1970's
John Lennon`s solo career peaks early with the release of the "Imagine" album. 1971
The Eagles unveil "Witchy Woman." 1972
Peaking at #3 on the LP charts is "Closer To The Edge" by Yes. 1972
The Who`s single "Join Together" cracks the Top 20 peaking at #17. 1972
The Rolling Stones unleash "Beast of Burden." 1978
Entering the LP charts is The Who`s last album with drummer Keith Moon, "Who Are You." 1978
Foreigner`s "Hot Blooded" nails #3 on the pop charts. 1978
1990's
It’s the MTV Music Awards! Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit” wins Best Alternative Music Video and Best New Artist Video. The group performs “Lithium.” Chris Novoselic launches his bass skyward only to have it land on him, knocking him unconscious. Later Cobain gets in to a backstage argument with Axl Rose (Guns N’ Roses). As all this is happening, the Best Video Award goes to Van Halen for "Right Now." 1992
Don`t do me like that. Tom Petty`s 22 year marriage ends. Wife Jane files for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." 1996
Things they don`t teach you in law school. Ex-Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten appears on the "Judge Judy" TV show. If that`s not absurd enough, Rotten is accused of using a head-butt to resolve a contract dispute. 1998
