Chopper was my Sheltie....he was 14...I was sitting on the garage floor petting him and telling him how good of a dog he is when he took his last breath. He was a GENTLEMAN and Bear and I will miss him. We are both crying for him now.

Pat - Sorry about your loss.

I love dogs too and I know they become part of the family. Your pet wasn't alone at the end and pretty soon you'll just remember the good things...

Hi Pat,

We lost our black lab, Darth a few years back and still miss him everyday. It gets better but not much. Read this it made us feel better. It is beautiful. Steve & Kathy

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Pat,

We also have a Sheltie named Toby who is now 11 years old and having some liver problems. He is the most loving dog I have ever had and we try not to think about the day he will move on...

Sorry to hear about your loss. Pets really do become a part of the family and for those people who never experience the unconditional love a pet gives are truly missing out on a life experince.

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

Having been there before also, that comes into my mind when I start falling for a new pet. What it would be like without them. It doesn't stop me from letting them into my heart, but makes me sad at first.

Think of the good times you had, and keep them close to you.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Unconditional Love is hard to say goodbye to. Words can't help here but I wish they could. I have had dogs all my life(actually they had me) but one took a piece of me with her when she died. Her name was Sasha, An Irish Setter that could do everything but talk. She was my Best Friend for 16 and a half years and I miss her! Take care Pat and hang in there! Jeff

So sorry to hear of your loss. I've lost many pets over the years and it is never easy. They are family........they love unconditionally and they will always have a place in our hearts. I lost my St. Bernard over 20 years ago...and I still miss her.

Pat,
We lost our first Shih Tzu after only 7 years. She was unfortunately stricken with an incurable blood disease. The grief was so bad we had to immediately get another Shih Tzu.

We know of your loss and pain. Our prayers will be with Chopper.

Pat, so sorry about your loss !
I have had dogs my whole life ,and i can relate to your pain,
5 yrs ago i had to put my siberian husky down with a shot at the vets, and it was the hardest thing i have ever had to do, cried like a baby!
My dog IS my kid!
I have since got another siberian who is 4 1/2 now.

Remember the great times you had with your dog,
14 yrs is a long time for a dog, do your grieving, let it out, i know just seeing one of your dogs toys will set you off, or seeing something on tv,soon the grieving will pass and only remember the best of times, then its time to GET another one. we are all on this earth for a limited time , value the time that you have!

My sincere condolences on your loss!

Rich.
