what the heck..

I got nothing to loose... it just took $56 to fill the PT Cruiser.....i'm not going to buy a drop on Sept 1st and see what happens...

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED.

THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC.

WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO
EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY,

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

WHEN HAVE THEY INCREASED THEIR PRICES BY A CENT? NEVER. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN BY THREE CENTS OR MORE. BUT HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT WHEN THEY BRING THE PRICES DOWN, IT IS ALWAYS BY A CENT EACH TIME!!!

DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE OIL COMPANIES DROPPING THEIR PRICES BY A CENT EVERY TIME THEY GET WIND OF A CAMPAIGN LIKE THIS, MAKING US BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE DONE US A GREAT FAVOR AND THAT WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL TO THEM.

SO REMEMBER, SEPTEMBER 1ST IS THE DAY WHEN WE STICK IT TO THEM!!

exactly as MDProwler said...not getting gas one day just means you'll get it the next. While the intention is certainly good, the plan isn't.

Good way to protest gas prices? Car pool. Walk to the store instead of drive. Drive cars with better gas mileage. Take public transit. Not buying gas on Sept 1 will only increase sales on Sept 2.

Gasoline for our cars is such a small part...it will make no difference! The military uses more fuel in 1 day than all the cars in the US combined use in 1 year. Think about it....a loaded 747 uses 7 gallons per second.

Pat, I think you've hit upon it--we should abolish the military and start packing sidearms.

you know... you guys are right...

how could I ever believe that the consumer had any hope of affecting the profits of the corporate giants.....??
What was I thinking ?
I'd have a better chance of letting all my vehicles run in the driveway and just keep filling them up... maybe the oil companies would choke to death on their profits...

OK... here's plan B.....everyone go fill up all their gas consuming machines on Sept 1 in the morning, drive or use them as much as possible and top them off around supper time.....
the oil companies will make so much money they will feel sorry for us and drop the price .... by a penny....

on second thought... maybe i'll stick with plan A... its no skin of my azz and maybe that tiny blip on the graph will make them think... or maybe not ....but "what the heck" ...
if i'm going to suffer ... it won't be without a fight

i'm a little surprized at the responces.. you Yanks are famous for not rolling over...
isn't that why we have the French ?

Jim, I just heard that the Arab countries are flourishing with the increase in oil pricing--roads, infrastructure, stock market--best in 20 years for them. It's going to be hard for them to give up their "new found wealth". I think it would take more then a push from the US and surrounding countries to make them lower prices, but you never know. They got what we want and they got the reins.

Sad but true, Butchcee....

I keep thinking someday this senario is going to change... North America will find a way to be self sufficient on the energy issue... i keep thinking the answer is there but we are missing one part of the puzzle....wouldn't it be great to tell them over in the middle east... "Sorry, we don't need your greasy crap anymore"...

i hope i live that long...

very interesting...

I liked the last 3 paragraphs...

Meanwhile, some clueless senators are oddly eager to push the Chinese currency up, which would make oil cheaper for Chinese industry and more expensive at home. The White House seems oddly eager to enact more tax-financed subsidies for those who buy Japanese hybrid cars, German diesels and ethanol made from corn or sugar. It is difficult to imagine a more irrelevant "energy policy."

The only policy that might actually shrink the "fear premium" in oil prices (estimated at $10 to $20) is to use the strategic petroleum reserve strategically -- to quell panic during hurricanes, strikes, wars and the like. But the United States has instead imported oil to add to the reserve whenever oil prices were unusually high (1981 to 1985 and now) and sold oil when the price was low (1997).

Nobody in Washington shows the slightest awareness of the global nature of the oil market, of the fact that industrial damage from high oil prices has nothing to do with whether a country imports or exports oil, or even the fact that there is a crucial two-way linkage between worldwide industrial production and worldwide oil prices. When it comes to causes and effects of high oil prices, nobody in Washington shows much interest in logic or facts. It might be sad if it wasn't so pathologically pathetic.

Hey !, Who's driving this bus ???

Al - you know those Jane Fonda liberals are not going to let us start packing sidearms,,,,,,,it would set a bad example for the children in the 'Village'.

I heard the other day that Venezuela is selling oil for $40 a barrel? Then there is Mexico,,,,,we should just take their oil in return for the taxpayers supporting the 12 million illegal Mexicans living in the U.S.

Its the end of the world,,,I tell ya,,,the end of the world

I think we should take the total calculated cost of the war and rebuild and charge Iraq that much in oil reserves.
Then flood the market, Another is ease the Dammed Tax base on Gas.

Every time I stop at the gas station these days you hear complaints from people and rightfully so.
Up here the government takes a cut of about 60-70% on every litre purchased.....and they're not interested in cutting it back to help the consumer. They say that if they did,the gas companies would just take the difference as their profit and the price would remain unchanged.
Nothing like having captive audience!
To fill up a Hummer H2......a whopping $135 bucks

People have pushed to do this before with absolutely no affect on the oil companies or the Arabs.

First of all every one would top off their gas tanks the day before or the day after the protest, and all you end up doing is showing the oil companies and Arabs!!!. What Lambs we really are.

Not sure if anyone remembers this Quote from the movie, The Formula when someone says.
(I think it was Marlon Brando or Geroge C Scott that says HELL WE ARE THE ARABS)

Second of all at this point in time if we stopped buying gas or fuel oil for even a week what we didn't buy or use China or some other Country would probably buy.

Some other Food for thought the Next time Kuwait or some other raghead country gets invaded let them rot in HELL and let their oil fields burn!!!!. This is there gratitude for our help.
Were we ever compensated for American lives lost or what we spent on our military saving their SORRY ASSES

I'm a "liberal" and I don't give a rat's patoot whether you carry a gun or not!! Just don't come crying to me when some raghead takes it away from you and shoves it where the sun doesn't shine and pulls the trigger.

It been said many, many times that what we need to do is quit buying gas from any other country. Just buy gas produced by the U.S.A. Let the Arabs and everyone else sit on it for a while and the price will come down.

I am not sure if this is true, but supposedly we have about 55 refineries in the US compared to about 300 twenty years ago. They keep raising prices because the hurricanes MIGHT hit the refineries on the gulf coast. I don't understand that one. If it hits, the price should go up AFTER, in my opinion.
Buy a motorcycle. Get rid of the gas guzzlers.
