It'll end like ALL our other senseless wars, Dusti...at an arbitrary time by an arbitrary man! And NOTHING will EVER be resolved! It NEVER has been, NEVER will be. |

There was 30,622 suicides in 2001 in the US. 400,000 treated for self inflicted wounds. Why aren`t you beating the drum on this? How many people starve to death each year in the US? Never hear from the tree huggin', dope smokin' liberals about issues other than "the war". Freedom isn`t free... |

Here's my two-cents worth - I was mad as hell that we invaded Iraq and I still am. But that's not really the point anymore. The point is we ARE there and our GIs need all of the moral and material support we can give them. In my opinion, we can only leave Iraq only when it is a functional Democratic society...and that's going to be a lot tougher than most people expect. Setting a timeline to get out is not smart because no one knows how long it will take to do the job right. One thing is for sure, if my country's good name and reputation is at stake is on this operation (and I believe it is), then I want to be proud of the new Iraq and I want to make damn sure the young people who lost their lives and who lost limbs did so for a purpose, democracy. Anything less would be pissing in the wind... |

Yes the war pisses me off but I've already ranted enough about that in the past. It's too late to cut and run now, we have to finish the job, or we could pull another Viet Nam...declare victory and just pull out.. My new complaint is that with the horrendous cost of this war one would think our elected clowns in congress would show some restraint. Not so as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm stupid, or maybe I'm naive, but the new highway bill the President just signed contains BILLIONS in pork that congress inserted to benefit their states and districts for non-essential projects. These are largely aimed at placating their electorate so they can get reelected. Where the hell is the fiscal restraint? Both Democrats and Republicans are equally at fault as far as I've been able to determine, but the King of Pork is Senator Byrd of W. Virginia. Don't these people have a conscience? Wasting taxpayer dollars at a time of war and mounting national debt? President Bush fought to limit the pork, but in the end, even he was steamrolled by congress. I've written to my senators and congresswoman and I've asked for an accounting of the amendments they included in the Highway Bill. I don't really expect to hear back from them. |

I'm with you Dustis. It doesn't matter how long we stay over there, that sh#*hole will never have a free democratic government. They hate us for being there now, and they always will. As soon as we pull out, some new dictatorship will take over and want to kill the infidels. Bunch of raghead, camel jockey morons. |

Maybe I'm missing the point of this thread Are we stressing the 2,000 number of our soldiers lost during the last 2 1/2 years,,,,or just the war in Iraq?
9,500 soldiers died during a Civil War Battle in Franklin, Tenn. on Nov. 30, 1864 in FIVE HOURS!!! http://www.carter-house.org/TheBattle.htm |

I really prefer to stay away from this type of bantering as there is nothing that I or anyone else on this board or any board can do about war except pray for the safe return of our sons and daughters. But when I read replies where it turns from objective opinions to childish name calling, my fingers and keyboard are moth and flame. So in my humble opinion here goes.---Dustis, TyK,Bob Miller and Kraut-BRAVO! Chromer thanks for the picture but the one in my mind is much clearer. I wish only the cowards had died that day! Skidmore in all due respect, what's your point? Suicide and self inflicted wounds are always a tragedy. But that was their decision, albeit a sad and misguided one. As far as people starving, well that is tragic. But many could have eaten on what this war has cost from a money stand point. Not to be confused with the military budget as common sense tells us, we need a strong military. You never hear anything from (as you put it) tree huggin' dope smokin' liberals because the Rushbo's have done a good job on brainwashing you right into a good fitting set of blinders. They don't have any answers but do like dividing Americans. Snoman why would you tell someone to start smoking dope when they told you that they never have and never will? Do you condone dope-smoking? Don't think for a moment that any American that had a heartbeat on 9/11 will ever forget!!!! How many Saudi's were involved in that tragedy? And why at 6:44 in the morning are you calling fellow members dumba$$es? Do you talk like that at POA functions? Lighten up and have a little respect for others and their opinions and always keep your ears open to both sides you might just learn something. Republicans and Democrats are not always right and not always wrong, But it is my opinion that far left and far right always are. But in the end we are all Americans first! Right now we just lack leadership on both sides. I've never been a big fan of Pat Robertson but what he said about assasination made sense to me. Saddam should have been shot for the way he lived! Then let them find a leader and if the results are the same shootem' again and keep doing it untill someone finally says uh we might need to rethink things. Oh and before you try to throw a label on me look for the one that says American! Jeff |

What was that old saying ...something about dishing it out and not being able to take it,,or something like that. In reverse order, frankly I don't care what time it was, just seems like a bad way to start the day. But your right it's none of my business. Uh the word 'these' implies those on this topic that don't agree with you. As in these dumba$$es. 'Funny' at who's expense the dope smoking liberals? And firstly I wasn't accusing you of TRYING to be childish. Now lighten up and go out in the garage and look at that beautiful new top. |

We are at War in this country, but the average American is blind to that fact. Muslims are coming into this country at a huge rate, spreading out throughtout our country. If you take the time to look, you will see they stay close together, have their on businesses that cater to them primarily. They have worked their way into many government offices. They have access to just about anything they need to build bombs, procure weapons, have covert meetings in their Mosque. They just honored the Imam that said that the Jews were the scum of the earth, and he is a Saudi. Look at Houston Texas, at their population in our main refinery area in this Nation. Wake Up America! You may be asking how can I say these things, well I have served this Nation in uniform for close to 40 years. I have flown all over this planet, performing both overt and covert operations. I am dying from two cancers caused by my exposure to Agent Orange in Viet Nam, but I will protect and serve this Nation and its people till my last dying breath. |

Chiefload, standing I applaud your dedication and service to this great country and pray for your full recovery! I agree with you that we are at war in THIS country. The infiltration is just as you stated. I live about 25 miles outside our nations capital in a very small town. In my small town we now have two large Mosques. When I drive by there I wonder why they need all of those huge satellite dishes and huge security fences. I didn't see a rush by the local Muslim community to condemn what happened on 9/11. Yes Saddam was a sick freak and needed to be taken out and he was. Now it's time to say Iraq you can take it from here and if you screw it up, we will be back with a nuke! We need our military here on our wide open borders making it impossible to breach them. No administration on either side has secured domestic tranquillity at the borders. Once the borders are secured then it's time to single out those that would bring us harm. Every enemy we have ever fought had their own technique but fighting terrorists the way we are is like one person using boxing federation rules in a street fight. They bombed us and they don't even have an Air Force. It's time to take the gloves off. If we don't stamp out the buildup right here in our backyard soon we will push one if you're Muslim, two to speak Spanish and three if you need to speak English. Jeff |

I've been following this thread just recently and mostly stay away from discussions like that because I have a big mouth that gets me in trouble sometimes - but here it is: I think everybody can agree that Iraq is a $hithole - no matter what your opinion on the war is. And stating how many soldiers have died is not necessarily pro- or anti- war - so why do some people get so upset about it ? We're there - so let's try to finish the job. The real question in my mind is - should we have been there in the first place ? No WMD's have been found which were the reason to go to war. It was not about getting rid of Saddam (yes, he's a dirtbag, well, maybe that was Bush's real reason..., or building a democracy. This message has been edited by MissKitty on 10-28-2005 at 12:54 PM |

SirReal said what I have been preaching to anyone who would listen. The law that was passed in the 70's regarding political assasinations should be repealed. It was a well meaning thing at the time and brought on by pressure from some of our past events around the world. EVERYTHING has changed since then. Saddam should have been taken out ,like so many other evil leaders around the world, without the huge military and human costs that come with a huge invasion and occupation. This needs to be a part of our policy, even though it sounds and looks bad to other governments. TO BAD!!!!!!!!! Enough of having our hands tied in any way at all!! ------------------ |
