An Air France A340 just ran off the runway after landing in Toronto, and burst into flames. Quite a coincidence that this happened on the 20th anniversary of the Delta flight 191 crash here in Dallas. We also had an emergency aircraft evacuation here at DFW today, after an MD80 landed due to the smell of an electrical fire. Here is a link to cnn http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/americas/08/02/toronto.crash/index.html I pray there aren't many fatalities. I have attached a photo of an A340 arriving Toronto. Ron - was just reading that!!! Very sad. I had just made it past the section of 635 that day after the crash at DFW from dropping someone off at the airport. Spooky!!! T |

I think the flight crew should get a lot of credit for doing more than serving cokes and beer on flights such as this one. Apparently they saved a lot of lives, which after all, is why they are on board in the first place. A lot us who travel a lot sometimes forget this. I still can't believe everyone made it out. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like inside the plane during the evacuation process. I always thought it would be mass chaos which would lead to a slow evacuation time, I guess the people remained half way calm and focused the way it should be. I'm just glad everyone made it. |
