July 29:On this date in 1965, the Beatles' second movie, Help!, premieres, with Queen Elizabeth in attendance. On this date in 1966, Bob Dylan is injured in a mysterious motorcycle accident. On this date in 1974, the charismatic Cass Elliot dies of a heart attack at the age of 32 in the flat owned by singer Harry Nilsson in London, England. Better known as Mama Cass, she was a powerful vocalist who recorded many famous songs with the Mamas and Papas, including "Monday Monday," "I Saw Her Again," and "California Dreamin'." She was successfully establishing her own solo career when she died.

...I always heard it was a ham sandwich.....the joke was if Cass had given the sandwich to Karen Carpenter, they would both still be alive

Mama Cass and Karen Carpenter both had crystal clear voices and were great singers. Too bad both are gone.
