Saw an HHR at the local Chevy dealer yesterday and went back today to get a closer look. Thoughts? Sticker $20600

....if you have NO ideas of your own, you just copy the competitions ideas......... IMO too little - wayyyyy too late for GM - we've seen the HHR at the Hot Rod Power Tour and it's nothing but a cheap KnockOff of the PT Cruiser !

I have seen the HHR and it is very similar to the PT; the aesthetics and proportions are much better on the PT in my opinion. The windows are very small and the body lines just do not appeal to me. That is just my opinion; please, I do not want to go to battle with anyone. I did see a version done by west coast customs that turned it into a pretty nice looking car.

I bleed Chevy Blue ... but this makes me hurl bloue chunks ... looks like they couldn't decide what "other" model to copy, so they copied a few IN ONE! Yuck ... unless it sports the Z06 powerplant and move 0 - 60 in 3.7 sec ... it has no appeal for me.

Anyone knows WHY GM didn't go through with the beautiful concept of the Camaro which was REALLY cool ?? (I guess they're kicking themselves right now, seeing how the Mustangs sell like HotCakes)

It certainly does look like a knock off of the original PT idea that DC brought to the market... I think it has a chance to do well in the local market here if they put a REAL motor in it. With these Colorado mountains and altitude..no one seems to keep the PT's long because they are gutless...

Who is running the design department for GM/Chevrolet? Everything new that has come out recently doesn't seem right. The SSR doesn't look "right". The Corvette has something about it that doesn't look "right". The Solstice - a cool car, but doesn't look "right". There isn't a single General Motors vehicle that interests me today. Now this HHR, which doesn't look "right". And who's idea at Chevrolet was it to copy the PT Cruiser after six model years??? ------------------ Rich W 2001 Silver Cat

It looks like a cross between the PT Cruiser and a Pontiac Aztec. Sadly, it got more of the Aztec than the PT. Not a very attractive mix IMHO...

The windshiled is way too big for the little grille. I saw one in Indy on the Power Tour. They missed by a mile and this is from a guy who owns two PTs.

I saw them at Detroit....copycat, yes...too late, possibly...I have absolutely no need for one, but If I was in the market for a vehicle of that type, I would consider one.....I didn't think they were too bad for what they are...

I think it may appeal to the PT crowd looking for something slightly larger but in the same price range. Let's see if GM makes any money on it.

"PT is gutless"??? I don't think so!! You can get the 225 HP Neon SRT engine in one now. You couldn't run fast enuff to sell me an HHR!! What a piece of crapola! Worse than the Pontiac Aztec and I didn't think you could get any worse than that. As far as the "Corvette not looking right" I have to disagree and I am certainly NOT a Chevalay fan....but the Corvette has got to be one of the best values on the road today (and I KNOW its the best looking) Name another car that goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and gets 28mpg on the highway for under 50 grand...you can't name one because no other one exists.

In my opinion it's just another one of those "design by Committee" GM specials that looks like six different designers did six different parts of the car and unfortunately they all had different instructions......yuck. A really sad copy of the PT Cruiser.

Hard to copy an "original" design....no one could ever do it with the Beetle, no one will do it with the PT Cruiser. Both are original in concept and design, and because of the unique shapes, they create their own market and become classis designs that cannot be duplicated... same goes for the Prowler...hard to beat an original.

PT is without a doubt a more stylish vehicle... This one takes the retro styling from the old Suburbans....definitely not my cup of tea!

Saw one yesterday. What was Chevrolet thinking? I'm not the biggest PT fan around, but geez, the HHR makes it look pretty good! Maybe this wouldn't look half bad with a woody kit but I still wouldn't be in line to drive or buy one.
