I'm somewhat of an audiophile and recently was considering purchasing a pair of Klipsch Reference floorstanding speakers. Listened to them at Ultimate Electronics and fell in love. Such an open sound, vocals sound amazing! The speakers I decided on were the RF-25, $800 + tax. http://klipsch.com/product/product....rue&rmore=False Came home from listening and checked eBay and found the same speakers for $549 Buy-It-Now (plus $89.99 shipping - 60 lbs each, they're heavy!) but there was only 30 minutes left. I wanted to do a little more research so I decided to let that auction pass and see if it gets re-listed. So a few days later I see the same pair were relisted and then...what's this...someone else has the same speakers starting at $1.00 with NO RESERVE!?!?! Fast forward to today...auction ending at 7:00pm. I made sure I was home to monitor the auction. Checked, they were at $300. Few minutes later, $305...$320...$335...$350. Alright, 1 minute to go, time to bid! Bid $355...outbid..Bid $360...outbid...Bid $370...high bidder! Wait, better raise my max bid another $10 just in case the other guy sneaks in. OH CRAP, the auction is done! Check out the winning bidder....ME!!! $366+89(ship)+6(insurance)=$466 for speakers that would have cost me $852 at the store. Brand new in the box, never opened. I'm psyched!!!! |

cnote: Congrats! Please let me know when you receive this baby, how was the shipping, was the product as you expected, etc. I'm in the market for a 50" plasma (I don't have room for an LCD), but I've got the yips about buying something that expensive ($4K+) on line. Thanks, buddy. Rock On! Kevin |

Kevin, check out your local warehouse store - SAMS, BJ's, or Costco. I bought my Plasma there and the price was better than even Ebay (at least the legit Ebay people that sell them). Check their on-line site too, I see SAMS has specials on their website all the time. 50" HD I've seen for around 3K. |

Hi Wuzzzer, Glad to hear of another audiophile out there who also has a passion for Prowlers. If you really like high end audio, try Audiogon.com. They have high end equipment FSBO at about 50% off retail. The members at Audiogon are trust worthy. In the audiophile world, there are lots of people I call 'flippers'. They are always searching for audio nirvana, and seldom keep equipment for more than six months. They enjoy the 'hunt' and always having the latest equipment. This permits us bottom feeders to scoop up some great deals! |
