Over the years we've all seen many cool names the manufacturers put on their performance cars; Charger, Viper, AMX, Chevelle, GTO, Prowler, Torino, etc.

For me the best name ever put on a performance car that really signified raw power and fury was the Mercury "Cyclone" of the late 60s.

I'm curious what others think was the great name ever put on a performance car.

I would have to vote for the Plymouth Superbird as having the most outstanding name I can think of.....also liked the Talladega and Daytona, named after super speedways....

`Cuda
Challenger
GTX

and in reading in my new Mopar Muscle the ROADRUNNER.

The article states the before Roadrunner was picked that "LaMancha" was concidered, I'm glad that one of the guys kid watched the Bugs Bunny Roadrunner hour on saturday mornings with his dad and was able to convince the upper management that Roadrunner would be a good name for the cheap & fast musclecar

Shelby Mustang
Boss Mustang
Mach 1
Firebird
GS

I read a classic car magazine by Hemmings and it has articles about cars from the 20's and 30's and in many of the right ups they talk about the performance of these cars. They don't compare to the muscle cars of the 50's and 60's but each decade has it's own muscle car.

Hudson Hornet & Chrysler 300 (letter cars) from the 50's
Max wedge & 409 no need to name the car they were in the early 60's

some cool named cars I've owned
`67 Barracuda (273 Hipo motor)
`67 Formula "S" Barracuda (340 4 speed)
`69 Roadrunner (440)
`70 Challenger (340)
`69 SS Chevelle (396/375)
`70 Grand Coupe Barracuda (383)
`74 Camaro (350/stick)
`71 `Cuda convertible (383)
`72 Challenger Rally (340 4 speed)
`71 Mach 1 (351 Cleveland)
`69 Charger SE (383)

I saw a kit tonight at Meijers for the Daytona Wing cars. Anyone want me to pick it up for them? The outer plastic was partially torn off. I would check the contents before purchasing.
It was $ 25. I forget what scale now.

The Superbird gets my vote. Humm, that might be too obvious.

PROWLER-VIPER-CROSSFIRE - Chrysler seems to find the just right name for most of their cars. My all time favorite would have to be my '67 Barracuda, neat fish, great car, but what happened when AMC did a fish-remember the Marlin, cool fish, awful car!
