Still have a spot open in the garage. Been thinking of picking up an older Viper. Like the looks better than the late 90s versions, especially the side pipes. One for sale locally here with a custom paint job and low miles. KBB says $34K but don't want to spend over $30K. Any thoughts on this one?

Thanks in advance,
Guy

Paint is a bit much for me but I really like the top of the hood. Bottom line, if you like it, that is all that matters. I don't think you can get that hurt at the price. Good luck.

I think the guy is a little optimistic on his HP figures, but appears the car is worth the money.

I'd ask myself if those low 18,000 miles were easy miles, or hard driven fast miles. Why boost the horsepower if it wasn't to drive it hard? I'd look for a nice '99 or newer Viper with the added amenities that came along in the Viper development,,jmo.

I like the paint job. I have read and heard that the older vipers are very temperamental and have high maintenance. I don't know if that's true or note

I like the paint job from the side but do not care for all that white on the back of it.
I don't know if the price is right or not.

I had two 94 Vipers along the line....no major disappointments with mine....

...side exhaust pods corrode from the inside out
...hoods have stress cracks from rubbing the air box
...all of them need head gaskets replaced
...leak terrible if you get caught in the rain
...gas filler tube grommets tended to leak at tank causing smell
...loud, fast, and get lots of attention

...a tremendous amount of fun for the $$$

...95 was last year for side exhaust
...97 first year for roll up windows
...02 was the last year for the RT/10

go as new as you can find.....there isn't much price difference between the years....
