Do you use DVI-D cables instead of Component video? I noticed that my HD cable box has a DVI-D output and my TV has the correct input and was wondering if anyone else used this.
Definitely would free up more inputs on my TV for the PS2 and DVD player!

I have HDTV with Charter. 42" Phillips Plasma. I use Composite. I split the cable coming out of the wall and run one to tivo so that I can record seperate, everything else I run thru my reciever so that I have surround sound so I only have the one composite from the receive going to the TV. The TIVO does not use composite

We have HDTV, with a PS2 and DVD. We purchased a 3 in / 1 out Component Video + Digital Audio Selector to provide additional hookups. Works great. Have not used the DVI-D cables.

If you have the HD output to go DVI into your set that is the way to go. You need to see if the box will do the output scaling to match your video (usually 720p, or 1080p on the video). Also, check to see if the set and set top box interface are/can do hdcp over the interface. Sometimes one may and the other may not and you might have a menu to disable it.

DVI-D IS YOUR BEST CHOICE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CABLE FROM THE BOX TO THE TV HAS TO BE SHORT (AROUND 6') UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUN A DVI FIBER CABLE. WE SELL THE FIBER CABLES AND THEY RUN AROUND $500.00 DEPENDING ON DISTANCE.

$500.00! That's more than my TV,VCR and DVD player cost altogether! Guess you can tell I don't watch much TV. I spend all day looking at two computer monitors, after 8 hours of that I don't want to look at anything with a screen!

If it is a short run then you have to use the DVI cable. Anything less is just that....less!

We have Charter HD, Xbox, DVD-Progressive going to a DLP Projector. Using Component cables.

Since Onkyo receiver only do 2 component inputs, we added this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006I5D1/qid=1118561741/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl23/002-3219087-2956850?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846

Works great. I have yet to see a decent priced DVI-D switching receiver..maybe give it a year or two?
