Getting the garage floor epoxy coated was a longer process than I expected.

The guy put on 2 coats of color and a coat of clear. He knew in advance that I wanted it clear coated, adds UV protection that the epoxy doesn't. Well when he went to get the clear they were out and it would have been another 3 days before they would get any in and I didn't want to wait. He had a different clear and I told him to just use it.

After the 2 day wait after completing the floor it was still tacky but I thought it might be due to the weather. I waited 2 more days and it was still tacky so I called and talked to the installer. He was to come over on Saturday (2 more days) I was getting ready to leave for work and he was not here so I called him and he told me that the supplier had a bad batch of clear and I was one of the lucky ones to have it on my floor. Another week goes by and he comes over and said he still didn't have the replacement clear but he would put on another coat of color and the clear her was going to use in the 1st place.

Well Saturday night he put on another coat of color and then Sunday afternoon he put on the stinkiest clear coat that run us out of the house for the next 24 hours. Since he said to wait 2 days after he finished I waited till this morning to start to move stuff back in.

Her is the Cat on the new epoxy coated floor

Now to get the other 3 cars, the trailer, Goldwing and all the STUFF I cannot live without back into the garage.

Your floor is cleaner than my cars. Might be shinier, too.

actually that picture is the same as the 1st one Larry posted but it is reversed, don't know how he did that)

That is my `67 Dart I have been working on for the past 10 years

Larry thanks for posting that picture WHAT WAS I THINKING... there was no need to epoxy coat the floor with all that crap in there

Looks very nice, I have a few questions though. Why would you need clear if it's for a garage floor and did he remove the tacky clear before repainting the floor?

They sent him something to put on it before recoating. The clear is to help protect and have UV protection. He said most floor do not need it, KIND OF OVER KILL for a garage. Just the epoxy, color coat, with the sun on it will cause it to fade and become alittle rough on the finish like old car paint. The clear is to eliminate that.

I want to be able to wipe up any spills on the floor. I know it will end up scracthed but with 3 color coats and 2 clear coats it should take a while to get down to the concrete.

I have the Prowler & trailer, Sue's van and the Goldwing. It is leaving a tread mark but wipes right up. The 1st clear cleaned the tires, shoes and left foot prints even in socks. GREAT NOW I GET TO MOP THE GARAGE FLOOR

I think Zaino has some 8 step floor wax for garages. Be sure to clay bar it first.

If the floor has any stripes that resemble silver I would bet AC has money somehow due....

The floor looks so nice, the only problem I have with it is that it is not my floor. You had said the clear hadn't dry totaly and they had to redo,I hope they didn't apply good clear over the clear that hadn't dried without removing the bad.Reason I say this is I had a streetrod basecoated and clear with same results and they redid it without removing orginal bad clear and you never saw such a mess after about 1 month.Thier feeling was the harderen in good clear would be able to take care of everthing.Didn't work

George Carlin does a great (TIMELESS) bit on "stuff".

I wish I could find a link to it............
The bit is almost 30 years old & still right on......
