The "apparently I missed it" reference was a snipe at the fact that starving someone to death is humane. Sorry the sarcastic humor eluded you!

Unless one was on a remote island with no electricity, cable tv and CNN is pretty much everywhere. If you ever get the chance to travel abroad, you'd know you can be out of the country and still follow things back home.

Obviously, you have no idea what has been going on during this case for the past 16 years,,,through 11 courts, before 19 judges.

As you say, you are entitled to you opinion. Have a great day.

Well, pulling a plug on a respirator isn't exactly humane either. It's not just pull the plug and you're dead right then. It still takes awhile for things to shut down.

Granted but, you are talking seconds here and a person in that condition is more often then not in a deep coma anyway. Breathing and heartbeat are autonomic functions. Meaning, you don't have to think about it for it to happen. These are the most basic of functions. I read a study were they extracted the brain of a shark and it still breathed for something like 10 hours.

Also if you are an organ donor, they don't pull the plug on you at all. You are kept alive on the machine, and your organs are taken out while you are alive.

I used to work in ICU, CCU, and surgery and unless something radically has changed in the last 10 years, that is not true. Only in the movies.

Most organs are viable for a varying amount of hours after the heart and lungs cease. When my wifes father died, they had several hours to extract his corneas and part of his liver. He was not, nor had been, on any life support prior to or when they were doing this.

You're correct on the organs you mentioned, However if they are transplanting the heart and/or lungs the only way they are able to be transplanted is from a donor that has been declaired brain dead. If the donor dies from a cardiac death the heart/lungs can not be transplanted.
