Chrysler soon to announce the end of production of it's Crossfire in 2007.Executive Vice President of Chrysler's North American Crossfire division, claims they are disappointed with sales in both North America and Europe and cannot justify continued production of the vehicle, with sales quotas far below projection, huge discounts and incentives have left Chrysler with large inventories of 2004's and timid sales of 2005's. "Sometimes you have to stop the bleeding before it get's serious and this is what we have to do" He refused to speculate if this was the end of Chrysler's quest for an American Sports car but did elude to, "at least for now with the Crossfire it is". When asked why he thought Crossfire sales were so bad, he suggested that "it appears the market was not ready for the Crossfire at this time" "We believe it's a great vehicle, but sales don't concur" Also citing the week dollar as another probable cause, Chrysler is hoping to make a first quarter profit for 2005, but poor sales and costs associated with production and especially assembly of the Crossfire, together with it's ailing Mercedes Benz division have investors anxiously awaiting first quarter results from the auto giant. When asked what this will mean to Crossfire owners he replied, "we shall continue to service and support the Crossfire as we would any of our products" and when asked what this will do to the value of the vehicles? he replied, "with so few Crossfires in the marketplace, value is relative to what one will be willing to buy or sell at and remains to be seen" One dealer told us, "The Crossfire arrived with great excitement and anticipation, now we wonder how to get rid of them" Lot's of people look at them, but nobody seems to buy them, at any price!"

I like the car ! but its to small for me...I have only seen them in the dealers showroom and never seen one on the road... I suppose the price will drop like a stone and the current owners will be hurtin !! probably in a couple years we will be able to pick up a low mileage, used one, dirt cheap.MOO (my opinion only)

Lethia and I would really like to have a SRT6 convert,,,,but the $47K price tag isn't justifiable. Even the coupe was overpriced at the beginning, comparing it to other cars in the same class with more standard HP.Our friend has a black Crossfire convertible,,,absolutely an awesome car and shoots right down the road at 155mph.

Nice car--high dollar.I've only seen a half dozen on the road, but I don't leave home much. Maybe the announcement of stopping manufacture and offering big purchase incentives will spur sales. Hopefully DC will consider an available car in their fleet, like the SMART, for the US market.

I agree about the pricing. In my opinion i thought the design was great and we really looked hard at them when they first came out. The high price plus a ADP of $1500.00 really turned us off. I have only seen two on the road.

I'm not wild about the styling, but the performance is very good. The price is too high in my opinion.

We own one.. and while it goes 'against the grain' of what has been said, let me say this:This is 'Eleanor's car'... and she absolutely loves it! It is an awesome car, with fantastic 'across the board' acceleration. Of all the cars I've owned (plenty) this car has the best 'never let's up' acceleration, all the way to ... well over the speed limit . As far as 'too pricey' while ours is a 2004, the first year, and not the 'hotter' one or a convertible, we both realize that what is under this car is a much higher priced (albeit 'last year's model') Mercedes that sold for a whole heck of a lot more than what the Xfire does. I'll take last years chassis, motor, with a very cool, in our opinion, body style, sleek lines, and more than adequate power, for a VERY LOW price compared to a mercedes badgeplate. We like it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... makes me wonder if I should really say how I feel! LOL The car still 'gets the looks and nods' as much as Day 1, and like most of you, we also very seldom see them on the road. Truth is, I simply don't think there is 'that much' market for a two-seater sports car in America, or at least less than what the production numbers were. How many other 2seaters are really out there? Not that large of a marketshare. That being said... makes you wonder what they are going to do (Or NOT do) with the latest, greatest, concept! Hmmmm.

...no surprise, local dealer still has just about every one they have had delivered....tons of convertables.......I finally sat in one a couple of weeks ago....the bottom of the dash rubs my shin while sitting at any angle with the seat all the way back....I really like the looks of them, but I opted for a new Vette conv. and an extra $6K in my pocket.....the Crossfire was $49K MSRP(no deals then) and I bought an 04 Vette(discounts/rebates) for $43K, MSRP was $57K....and the Vette fits better for an older dog like me....

I had a company lease Crossfire (red). I did not like the car...the blind spot was too big of an issue for me. I got hit in it twice in a month's time. Once on the freeway..in a chain reaction situation and the second time in a parking lot. Woman backed out after I already had and she backed into me broadside.....claimed she didn't see me.......she was in a Durango. I got paranoid about driving it......so I turned it in early and am back to driving the PT. I was also disappointed in several things about the car. Of all the Chrysler products I've driven over the years, the was the first one I didn't like. I don't miss it.

Could I get one to "bash around in" too for a bit CJ, I promise to turn it back in too ... Actually had read this thread before going to dinner tonight and then saw one on the road here ... hadn't seen one in MONTHS! Almost as scarce as a Prowler sighting!

Ray........I don't see the humor in that. I had two accidents in one month......that's more than I had in 38 years of driving. I felt like a moving target. The lease cars aren't "free"........we pay for them.......why do I want to pay for and drive a car I'm not comfortable with? It cost us to turn it in early....but I was more concerned about my safety.

In all fairness, I don't see that either of these accidents had anything at all to do with the crossfire or its design... and to add to that, also in all fairness, there is much more of a blindspot with the Prowler top up than you will ever have in a Crossfire.

...and with mirrors adjust corrected [(See Pumpkin's home page! (thanks Norm/Pat)]... there is no such thing as a blindspot in most cars, including that one

All things being considered, I believe I would feel safer in a Xfire coupe than a cat,,,,just me. If its a convert, no difference.

CJ ... was assuming you weren't insured and am thankful for that ... aside from being rattled and your previous accident-free history tarnished ... thought you "got" the cars, like demo's ... sorry my wit offended you in this particular thread. Moral of story ... stick with bigger cars kiddo ... at least we know then that you are compensating for something else << humor
