My 99 Red will be 6 years old in a couple of weeks and it still has the original battery. Who has one older than that?

Depends... Mike's 97 was built B4 mine. If he still has the original in his, and it still works, once again, Mike takes the cake.

Now that I think about it, mine came in on the same shipment as Mikes... we'll have to check on that one. I have MDH 082714

I know you are talking about the prowler, but my 93 Toyota pickup lasted 9 years. Back in the 90s mom's Explorer would eat a battery every two years.

I have the one for my 2000! Its been sitting in the corner of the shop since the fall of 2001. I then replaced it with the best Excide I could buy and they have given me a new one every year since and its due again. Why do you think Prowlers tend to kill them off.

Still have the original in my black '99! Only has about 4500 miles though.

If you change the battery Ed, you will have to revise your 'totally stock' statement, won't you?

He can still stake claim to supreme stockness. He'll just be lacking originality.

Bob,
I wonder if parking the cars for the winter and setting the alarm doesn't draw the battery down. It seems to me like it would. I never set mine when it is parked in my garage and put away for the winter and my battery has never discharged.
Any other thoughts?
Dale

I think that so many of them are driven infrequently and they never get a full charge and then they sit for long periods. Or maybe not.
Mine died last Spring and I had used it not that long before it was dead. I jumped it and figured I was due for a new one but it has not been dead since.

What is the intended life of the original batteries? 48 month? 60 month? I can't think that I have ever had a battery last more than it's intended time. Most don't last half the intended time.

Ed,
Since I bought evil elf's RED '99 used, is there a way I can tell if it has the stock (orig) battery? Thx ~Ty-K

Good one Janet!

I still have Catwoman's original '97 battery, which was replaced with a Optima. Still takes a charge, but I wouldn't count to highly on it anymore.

my car was built June 29th 98 and still have the original battery.........I will probably change it this year just to be on the safe side

I had a battery in Sue's van that showed it was charged and started the car OK, but I noticed the radio channels started losing memory and at night it would start to cut out if pushed hard to pass someone. The battery would only charge to about 11 volts and the lights and heater would drain it to the point of not having enough power to send the spark to the plugs.

I've not bothered to check out the build date on my 99 Black cat and since it's still in the bag, I can't. However, it is a 99 and still has the original battery.

Larry, I am losing memory, day and night. You think it is just my battery? I have jumper cables for my pacemaker but never thought of my main battery. lol.
TY,
It is all black with a red sticker at the top that says Chrysler, Auburn Hills, MI and the zip code. Maintainance free Part number 4609180A? I can't read all of it since the cable is crossing over the red label. I did not look for a date on it. It has the cold cranking power, etc. also. I don't know where Sandy put the new camera accessories so I can't post a pic, even if I take one.

Me too! I'd have to check the number on it to see if it is the oldest.

I FINALLY got the Candy Prowler back together yesterday, after chroming the front end. I got ready to pull it out of the garage and the battery had died. We had started it a couple of times earlier for just a few seconds, to bleed the brakes (I know it does not have to be running), to turn the wheels, etc. Just kind of ironic the battery was dead after all this discussion. It is a 2002, of course. It took about 2 seconds to jump it. That battery appears to be exactly the same as the 99.
