this ad has been the subject of much discussion for many years....why ???...ps...don't strain your eyes on the text, the car is the center of the confusion....

the answer..........the car pictured in the advertisement was never built...... ...the ad was for a 1971 Challenger T/A...after a rather dismal season in the 1970 Trans Am Racing circuit the program was discontinued...there were about 2500 of the 1970 T/A Challengers built in a 40 day period during the spring of 1970.... ...for decades, MOPAR "detectives" looked for the 1971 Challenger T/A used in the ad, the "Holy Grail", the "Million Dollar MOPAR"....several years ago it was finally revealed the car in the ad was really a 1970 model and the 1971 grill was air brushed in...also the 340 SIX PAK letters on the front fenders were airbrushed over,it still shows as a blur if you look closely....the grill is also quite evident upon close examination that it is faked....interesting MOPAR history....they advertised a car they never built(good use of marketing funds).....
