I had one center cat that was broken when I replaced the brakes on my Prowler. I read many posts on how to remove the caps, and I did what was posted, but 2 tabs broke off. I looked at the center cap and noticed the remaining tabs were very brittle. Today I went to my local Chrysler dealer to see if it was covered under warranty and the service writer said it was not covered. I told him many Chrysler/Plymouth dealers did replace these caps for many Prowler owners but he said that was not true. I would appreciate it if your center caps were replaced under warranty you could post a reply here. Hopefully this information will help me get the cap replaced. The Thank you. |

Howard, You can find caps on ebay for half that price. There are also dealerships who post on POA for discounts of 10% over cost on parts. Lastly, I would try to fix the broken tabs on the center cap you have..... glue the tabs back with superglue on and use silicone on the back of the tabs for support. Oh, and a word of advice: DON'T USE BLACK SILICONE!!! I learned why the hard way. |

Howard... ...it is nearly impossible not to break a tab or two....extremely brittle....I had several of them exchanged under warranty in the early days....best bet is Ebay.....cheaper than $91....sometimes a POA classified will have some for sale......I even bought another extra set a couple of years ago just to keep(now I don't use them anymore with the knock offs)....paid $160 for a set of 4.....they can be repaired, although I don't know the details....but I think there are some very instructive threads out there somewhere..... PS....these caps were made at a little factory in Morristown Indiana not too far from where I live....I used to know several of the employees there.... We opted to replaced the center caps with something that looks very nice - aluminum billet center caps. We got them from Jay Harris.

Try JEFF, he's a Mopar Parts guy on here. Should be $40 ea. I have around 10 extra in case. I fix them myself. Construction adhesive. Stays pliable. As long as you have the broken pieces no problem. If you can't find one let me know. ------------------ This message has been edited by CTProwler on 02-13-2005 at 02:29 PM |
