You mean the last twenty-two years,,don't ya? Real race cars don't have fenders, hoods, windows, roofs, lug nuts, and mechanics named Bubba. F-1 and Indy cars rule! Wheel to wheel,,for reals!

Alley...I agree! My best friend is an ex F-1 mechanic. He is a hell of a mechanic and fabricator. That is true racing!!! Brian By the way...do you know what the acronym FAG stands for in NASCAR? If NASCAR doesn't like the outcome of the race, they will just make more rule changes. Don't let 'em race, just give 'em more stupid rules!

I agree with alot of the critique. But I aint gonna stop going. Say all you want, when those cars come screeming off those high banks, plate or no plate, there is no where that I would rather be. If your heart isn't pumping and you don't feel the electricity, you better get a check up. That's with all the stupid rules and everything! JMO I WILL BE SMILING ALL NEXT WEEK, IN PERSON!! It beats the hell out of sitting around here in CT in the winter. It's always better in Person. I've been to 14 Indy 500's and I enjoy it a lot, but you can only see a small section of the Track. You have to pay at least $500 (Penthouse Boxes) a seat to see anything. At Daytona there isn't all the tall buildings, Golf courses, luxury suites that block your view of the whole track. It's also Fun day with the guys, Beers etc. Plus there are 4 days of racing. Indy 500 is just one race, 1 day. I went to the first 2 Indy formula 1's! Very boring, no passing, Schumacher gets in front and is gone! Most exciting part is the Start. It only takes a little over an hour too. With airfare, Hotel, Tickets, Food, rental car, its a very expensive 90 minutes of racing. Besides I will get in a few rounds of Golf this week also.------------------

Sounds like I am getting on the soap box, but some of my best memories of going to Daytona are the times with good friends and family and meeting alot of new friendly people.(actually where I first met CTPROWLER) Nascar fans have got to be some of the friendliest most accomodating people in the sports world. Where else can you have 43 different rivalries, 200,000 people, most of them drinking beer in the sun, and basiclly see everyone getting along and enjoying each other. Only bad, disgusting thing I have seen in all these years was the incident where alot of Jr. fans threw beer and cups on the track and at the 24 car after a disputed finish in Talladega. If that sort of thing were to become common, I might check out of this sport, but I think that was totally isolated. Hopefully they will change some of the kooky rules and take off the plates. Until then, I will be there enjoying the whole scene. And we wager on it too!!------------------ BackinBlack

Tom: From 1976 until two years ago, I went to the tracks, sometimes as many as 5 times a year. I guess I just got over it because today's racing is not what I enjoyed in the earlier years. My hat is off to those of you that still enjoy it, I am just not one of you anymore.

Dave I do agree with you. I have seen the changes since I have been going, which is since 88. There is alot of things that need fixing in Nascar. I just still enjoy the whole deal. I have been to my share of races that ended in caution or where there wasn't enough passing. For now, I still get those goose bumps when I am at the track. My father in law says that something is missing for him since Dale Sr. has been gone. I understand that too. We were right there when that happened and I saw grown men crying saying they would never go to another race. Maybe my time will come when it has been enough. Still is a heck of a way to get out of Ct.in Feb!------------------ BackinBlack

I don't think the race should ever end under a caution flag. Stop the race at that point and have a restart, if nothing else. Maybe make it a 10 lap minimum to end the race, in other words if there is a caution in the last 10 laps, stop the race and restart it with 10 laps to go even if there were only 2 laps left.

Ed, They tried something new last year after the Talladega disaster. I agree wth you, there should be a 10 lap minimum to finish the race. The drivers say that that would make for cars on their roofs as they all are bunched and trying to get to the line, and that they would have to keep restarting the race. It is really hard to make everyone happy, but as a fan who spends big $ on these races, I want to see green flags at the end.------------------ BackinBlack

AGREE with Mr. Ware. Bring back the old days! It went all to helx when they started letting front wheel drive production cars be represented in NASCAR as rear wheel drivers,,,BOO,,,HISS. I watch NASCAR, but don't love it. It fills a void on tv. If you watch the first 25 laps and the last 30 laps,,,,,you've seen the race. JMO Besides,,,,there are too many people there [fans],,,with only one tooth. OK,,,I've opened the door for some shots This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 02-13-2005 at 07:57 PM

Remember guys.....The good old days are good because they are better than what we have now.... in our eyes. If things wouldn't have changed, then they would have become boring by now...if not to us, then to the up and coming generations.... But times change, and we are lucky to have known what we call " good old ". Lets be thankful we can remember them, and not be sour in front of the youngins... They probably can't understand why we liked them so much, and they shouldn't cause its for us old guys to share.. lets just share a little excitement with our present and future fans... it will make us look good and get us a little respect with the youngsters.. after all, we may need them some day to drive us around in our Prowlers... jmo This message has been edited by halicat on 02-13-2005 at 09:08 PM
