Do you remember turning the dial to select the octaine at the SUNOCO stations?
If I recall correctly they always had the higest octane gas?

I remember a gas station that had a gas pump that you cranked. As you cranked the handle it filled a glass reservoir on top of the pump. You pumped as much as you wanted to buy up to the marks on the glass. 1 Gal. 2 Gal. 3 Gal. on up. Then you put the nozzle in the gas tank neck and let gravity pull the gasoline out of the reservoir. They still were running some of the cars that had the gas tank up on the top of the hood. Actually back of the rear edge of the hood. In front of the windshield. That was a long time ago.

I remember turning the dial at Sunoco. I believe the highest number on the dial was 260, but I don't recall what it stood for.

I remember when gas was twenty cents a gallon and there were actual service stations. The under the hood check, battery, oil, hoses, radiator, etc. The checking of the air pressure of the tires and the cleaning of the windows. Those were the days. Oh yes i almost forgot they also filled up the tank for you. Memories....

Back in the sixty's when I worked part-time at a "Service" Station, I made $0.75 an hour to pump gas and check fluids. The cheapest gas I can remember was $0.279 per gallon.
