Monday, just 1 day after a big NFL game against the Ravens Payton Manning visits seriously ill children at St. Vincents Hospital in Indianapolis. He made sure each child received a Colt's gift. Talked to each child individually. The little guy in the front row with a Colt's shirt on is my grandson Luke.

I'm not sure Peyton is a hero, but he certainly is a standup guy. Kudos to him for making time to visit those seriously ill chlderen. But most importantly, he eptitomizes hard work, leadership and sportmanship. Our "quarterback" (J. Plummer) flipped off the Bronco stands a couple of weeks ago. Best of luck to Peyton and the Colts..they've got a chance to take it all (and deserve it).

Living in Indianapolis and reading about the colts and seeing almost daily on TV I am NOT a FAN. Now they plan on building a $990 million stadium. I do have to say Payton Manning does give back to the community. He does lots for the kids. A Hero, no but a good citizen of the community, Yes he is Will he break Marino's record. I think so

I am sure he is a hero to those kids. It is nice to read about a Pro athlete that has his head screwed on straight after reading about Ron Artest, etc.

Too few pro athletes take the time to give back to the community. It's nice to Peyton Manning with the kids.Ed - I thought you were one of the 824 people that actaully bought one of the Ron Artest rap CD's?

Simon, thanks for sharing this with us. Did anyone hear that Peyton also raised about $200,000 this week for a charity of a boy who just died of leukemia? Sounds like a real hero to me.
