he was the son of Doris Day........music producer for Columbia records during the sixties, working with the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean...produced a couple of big hits for the Byrds(Turn, Turn, Turn....Mr.Tamborine Man).....Melcher denied a recording contract to Charles Manson after his audition and was believed to be the target of the Tate/Labianca murders by the Manson/Tex Watson gang.....Melcher and his then girlfriend , Candice Bergen had moved from the house shortly before the killings ...... ....the sixties were an interesting time in history..... Not too many people remember Terry, or all of the good music he produced, but it is a real loss - he was a young guy, too - early 60's......His work with The Byrds was great. He will be missed....
