I heard on the radio that the top 3 sites that people want to visit are:
3. Great Barrier Reef
2. Grand Canyone and
NUMBER ONE was Disney World.
I was shocked to hear that.
I have seen all 3 and would not put Disney World in the top 10.

Disney World was fun, but it wouldn't be in my top three.

I guess my three would be, in no particular order:

1. Okavango Delta (remote wildlife area on the border of
Angola/Botswana)
2. Banff/Lake Louise
3. Summit of Mt. Everest

Been to #1 and #2 and made it a little ways towards #3.

Bob - Wow,,,,Summit of Mt. Everest. My smoke filled lungs would collapse before reaching 10,000 feet.

Hope you make it to the top,,,,,many have failed. Brings a new meaning to frozen in time!

Alley Cat -Well maybe it's more of a dream at this stage. I only got up to around 20,000 feet before I got high altitude sickness. You haven't lived until you've had diarrhea in your sleeping bag at 20,000!

My next adventure is Kilimanjaro in Feb 05 hopefully.

1. Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and see pyramids on return trip home.

2. Go back the South Island of New Zealand again and spend much more time there. One week was not enough.

3.Drive The Pacific Coast Highway in our Prowler from Vancouver to San Diego over a six week period. (Guess I'll either have to wait to retire or win the lottery for this one. )

We have been to the Keys, Kono, Banff/Lake Louise, Australia, Alaska, Cal. coastline from San Francisco to San Diego, Japan, rafted the Grand Canyon and been to New Zealand.
I have to agree ALL of them would be way ahead of Disney World. I would like to tour Italy and Scotland. I have no desire to climb a mountain due to old age, bad knees and lack of breath.

I've been to Disney at least 10 different occasions. I wouldn't rate it in my TOP 10! Hawaii, Caribbean, Mexico, Grand Canyon, I enjoyed better. Australia , Tahiti, Pyramids, Alaska, Japan, China, Europe are all on my someday list!

I'm serious about doing it but not in a position to take enough time off work. There are several outfitters offering guided treks up the mountain. How long are planing to take, some take more days than others to allow you to acclimate to the altitude change better.

Marty - I don't have my itinerary with me, but I think it's four days up and two down. On summit day, we get up at midnight and head up to the summit, then come back down the mountain part way. We won't spend a long time on top (if I recall it's 19,335 feet). The summit is an icy glacier so we'll need crampons and the final push will be slow going. It's not supposed to be very technical though.

The flight over from NY goes into Johannesburg, South Africa, then we catch a flight to Arusha, Tanzania. We head out the following day. I'd estimate nearly two weeks for the whole trip.

I think there are only a couple of slots remaining, so let me know if you're interested.

In my top 10 would have to be Rio for Carnivale.

When at West Point, we had a saying...

Disneyland is in Orange County, California.
Disney World is in Orange County, Florida.
West Point is in Orange County, New York.
Coincidence? I think not.

CJ, what is in Colorado that tops your list? It is fairly central in the USA, possibly a good place to have a Prowler Gathering. Since Yellowstone wont work for 2005, maybe Colorado. Its one state I have not seen and would like to see what it has to offer. I too, would not put Disney at top of my list, when compared to all the true wonders of the world. However, I have taken the kids several times.
