...I have nothing against the singer, not sure if I have ever heard her sing....but I was just curious WHY she was worth so much to DC for marketing their product....now If they had Richard Petty, I might understand ....but I just don't know what crowd they are trying to sell to....not knocking her, just don't understand this......how many cars must she sell to earn that hefty payday, and which type of cars ???

Whatever DC paid her,,,is was a steal!!! The lady sings in nine octive ranges and five languages. In my opinion, no better singer out there and she packs the concert halls. I seen her concert in Phoenix and rated it the best I've ever seen. Lethia and I are going to see her in Vegas in September. Her Vegas show sells out months in advance,,,five or six days a week! A must see in Vegas! Women have a great influence on cars sales to most families, and Celine does have that magical influence. Her song "I Drive All Night (to make love to you)" is a perfect backdrop song for the commercials.

I like Celine, but personally would have chosen someone like David Lee Roth. He could have been a good charismatic spokesperson... and also saved them 10-20 million in the process. ------------------ Rich W 2001 Silver Cat

I think they are trying to reach an "upscale " market with the new (expensive) cars DC is producing...I mean, the 300N hemi convertible will be starting at about $50K....Celine Makes sense from that standpoint. What IS a ridiculous campaign is GM using Led Zeppelin to sell Cadillacs?? I mean, c'mon!

I'd be curious to see just how much more (or less) business they end up getting paying someone that kinda money just to sing in the background. Are folks that gullable that if they possibly wouldn't buy a Chrysler car, if they here Dion's siren song (pun intended) they magically will line up and pay the big bucks now for one????????

YF...It STILL makes more sense than trying to sell Cadillacs with Led Zep!

Now if we could combine her singing with Nissan's commercial designer you would have a Home Run!

If you've seen the movie Titanic then you've heard her sing. She sang the theme song and won an Oscar for it.

Yes, and the ship sunk. LOL! I think it was like Pepsi's bazillion dollar deal with Micheal Jackson,...did it really bring them in alot of business? Did folks really want to try it because some guy was spinning around and grabbing his crotch? Celine may have alot of fans but, those fans buy her CD's because it has her singing on it. Will they really fork over $20-50K for a car just because they heard her voice in the background. Big difference.

How many promos will Celine be able to do for Chrysler, now that she has her own Vegas show(which runs for the next three years)? My 2 cents-I'd love to see Chrysler put that money into developing more great cars(like Prowlers) and spend their advertising budget elsewhere!

Here, here! Probably pretty easy if she is just the music in the background. Heck they could just even use a CD if she was too busy.

It is great to see Prowler owners know a lot more about advertising than ad execs!! Personally I like MEAT LOAF singing "let me sleep on it" for GM. I'm not going to go buy a car but it might make a lot of people consider trying out a GM and if they try it they may buy it.

My favorite story...Years ago Bob Seger worked on the assembly line at the GM plant in Detriot for less than $10.00 an hour......Years later, he sold "Like a Rock" to GM for their truck commercials for half a million... (read that on VH1 Pop-Up videos)

Come on now. Have any of us ever bought a vehicle because of the spokesperson??? I don't think so. If DC wants to waste it's money that is a shareholder problem.I agree with DR PROWLER in that the money should be spent on product improvement. My 2 cents.

Love Celine songs and her singing but I think to many businesses THINK by paying someone big bucks that people are going to run out and buy there products or services. Must be there are alot of people that do this or why would business spend so much money wastefully???? Maybe US people in the POA are smarter?? Who is to say!!!

Exactly right! But something got you to the dealership to look at the car and that is what the commercials are for. BTW - Celine has made several commercials inwhich she is either driving the car or sitting in it = Crossfire and Pacifica. Her butt looked perfect sitting in it!

Personally, I think they do. That is not to say some ad agencies can't come up with good or clever ads but, some multi-bazillion dollar deals are just train wrecks sold to major corps that feel by spending alot, they will get alot back.

Pulleezz, that anorexic body with the big honker of a nose. She can sing but, keep her out of the camera's lense.

I am more offended by companies like Nike that paid Michael Jordan MILLIONS of dollars (like he needs it) to promote their sneakers that are produced in asian sweatshops for pennies...

Why? In that part of the world, a few hundred bucks a year is a kings ransom. Nike is just maximizing it's profits.

LeBron James Lands $90M Nike Endorsement By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer CLEVELAND - High school basketball star LeBron James signed a multiyear endorsement deal on Thursday with Nike, which outbid Reebok and Adidas for the 18-year-old star, who is expected to be the NBA's No. 1 draft pick next month. Terms of the deal negotiated were not released, but a source close to James, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press the deal was worth more than $90 million. "Nike is the right fit and has the right product for me at the right time," James said in a statement. "They are a good company that has committed to supporting me throughout my professional career, on and off the court." The agreement came just hours after James signed an exclusive contract with Upper Deck trading cards. His contract with Nike is believed to be the richest initial shoe contract ever offered to an athlete. When Michael Jordan signed his first contract with Nike in 1984, it was for $2.5 million over five years. Nike signed Tiger Woods to a five-year, $40 million deal in 1996, but it was later replaced by a $100 million package from the sporting apparel giant. Earlier this week, Nike signed Carmelo Anthony, the freshman who led Syracuse to the national championship in April to a shoe and apparel deal. Anthony, a close friend of James, is projected to be taken with the No. 2 pick next month. "We are excited about our new partnership with LeBron James and look forward to a nurturing relationship with him," said Lynn Merritt, a Nike executive. "LeBron has great worth ethics on the court, tremendous basketball ability and a passion for the game." Last weekend, James, his mother, Gloria, and agent Aaron Goodwin spent two days at Nike's corporate headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., where the company made its final presentation. Adidas appeared to drop out of the running earlier this week, just days after it put up billboards and placed messages on buses in Akron directed at James. James also signed an exclusive multiyear contract with Upper Deck trading cards Wednesday. The 6-foot-8 James' selection of Nike over Reebok and Adidas ends a nearly two-year battle among the shoe companies to land the dynamic player, whose game has been compared to that of Jordan and Magic Johnson. James has received unprecedented media coverage the past two years. He has appeared on the cover of national sports magazines, and last season two of his games were televised nationally by ESPN. The shoe deal came less than a day before James was to learn where he'll be wearing his Nikes as a pro. The NBA will hold its draft lottery Thursday night, and the winner gets the right to select James, a three-time Mr. Ohio in Basketball and the consensus national player of the year the past two years. The Cleveland Cavaliers (news) and Denver Nuggets (news), who tied for the league's worst record this season, have the best chance at getting the top pick. Terms of the deal with Upper Deck were not immediately available, but company spokesman Jake Gonzales said James' contract is on a level with previous agreements signed by Jordan, Woods and soccer star David Beckham. Boone said the trading card deal included a $1 million signing bonus. Gonzales said James is the youngest person ever signed by Upper Deck, whose other spokesmen include Kobe Bryant (news), Kevin Garnett (news), Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui.
