I think it would be interesting to know about the early days of POA. How it came to be. Who are all of the behind the scenes peoples involved. Who was the first registered member. Who were the original topic posters. How many of the originals are still here. I find this site to be the best on the web and belive it would win awards if there was such a thing as best site competitions. The level of professionalism, civility and info is outstanding and I would like to be more informed. Any input of historical value would be great. Thanx Jeff

I guess I had the first post, from the search I did.

The People who started this deal is Tony Goertz(g-Force), Mike Krehel, Judy Krehel and Chris Krehel(Webmaster).

History, Mike and Tony had a idea and ran with it and the Rest Is History.

Everyone else chipped in to make the site what it is today.

Again thanks to all of us here at the POA. It's all a group effort and sometimes a thankless job but worth it...

Gary thanx for stepping up to the plate, thats just the kind of info I am looking for. 8053 posts-WOW that must be a record here. Way to go. Can you imagine how much different owning and maintaining a Prowler would be without this site? Thanks to all that have made this possible. I need to get a check in the mail to POA! Any other historical contributions out there? Jeff

I think it was Larry Lord who had the first POA event and from that time and on each Event just gets larger and larger.

But we still have to give credit to www.prowlerclub.com starting their site and DF for Prowlers.

Beware-Thank you! Gary a bit off topic but when you said events get bigger and bigger, I thought how cool would it be to get in Guiness records for most Prowlers in one area at one time hmmmm and then breaking it every year, what a P A R T Y Okay back to topic Jeff

C'mon Rich....you and Dave don't have time to post beacuse you spend all your time reading manuals to a cat ......I am not sure when my first post was because I posted under other names for a long while, then switched to Tangled apparently in Dec 2000....I think before that I was.... Black 99....Silver Bullet....Black 2000....Y2K YELO...Y2K YELO X 2 ....And I think I used Y2K YELO X 4 last....I had 4 yellow cars for a short period of time.....I wonder often what happened to some of the original posters...did they sell their car...lose interest....computer catch on fire.....great group of people...wish more people posted on a regular basis....would be fun to hear what some have been up to for the last year or so.......agree, this is one of the nicest boards I visit....easy to use...easy to post pix....lotsa nice people at the core.......congrats to all that made it happen, and hope it last a long time.....something to be proud of for sure.....

Here is a picture of one of the first Prowler Club meetings up in Northern California. It has all the colors Prowlers come in, purple and yellow. There is Phil Horvath, Debbie Angell, Larry Lord and Gary Myers to name a few. It was taken on August 21, 1999.

SirReal.......the Prowler Club was started (when Prowler production was announced by Chrysler) by a gentleman in Ohio whose name was Rion MacConnell. I joined the club then, even though I didn't have my first Prowler until about 4 years later. Later, and I'm not sure of the date, the club was bought from Rion by a NJ owner whose name is Nowell Herman. He renamed the club to the Official Plymouth Prowler Club. Tony Goertz from Canada, had also started a club (not sure of the date) called the International Prowler Club which I had also joined. In July of 2000, Tony and Mike Krehel decided to join forces and started the Prowler Owners Association and the Prowleronline.com website. I then joined the POA in the first days of the new group and have been here ever since. This post will make 7,150 for me!! I'm addicted..........what can I say? In the beginning, there were only a few female owners who joined and posted on this board. Debbie Angell (Catwoman) from AZ, Carol Schultz from Farmington Hills, MI and me. I'm happy to say that there are now a lot more women who post now, whether they are owners or husband/wife owners. (If I missed anyone, I apologize)

About a year ago, Mr. Herman sold the Plymouth Prowler Club (PPC as we called it) to his Vice President, Tom Kalski. Tom has recently passed the club over to Mike and Tony and now everyone is together under the POA.

We welcome all owners and are glad that you have joined us and hope you stick around for a long time. This is a wonderful group of people/owners and we have had some really great times attending local, regional and "national" events. The information is the most accurate and comprehensive you will find anywhere on the Prowler.

Jeff.

It seems like yesterday... Here's a link to the annoucement by Tony of the merger of the International Prowler Owner Association and Mike's Prowleronline.com...
http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000075.html

Most of us at that time belonged to the PPC (Plymouth Prowler Club). Some of us also beloned to the IPOA (I still like the certificate Tony made available for everyone to print out).

Now, the first National (North American) gatherings of Prowler Owners was under the PPC. CAAP I on April 30, 1999 and CAAP II Oct. 1st & 2nd 1999. I've met so many fellow Kat owners that I still consider friends from those first meetings and continued under the POA flag... All of these have been open to any Prowler owners.

Here's some pics from those two events...

CAAP I - In the parking lot of the CAAP plant getting ready to go inside for plant tour. Apr. 30th, 1999.

CAAP I - In the conference room of the CAAP plant after tour and shopping at the CAAP store... 4/30/99...

CAAP I tour of MSX plant (where Prowler body panels were pained). 4/30/99...

CAAP II - Oct. 1st & 2nd, 1999. Larger group and many new faces not at first event...

CAAP II - Tour of the MSX paint plant with our gowns on...

CAAP II - Early pioneer and first NOS Powered Prowler... Lot of inquiring minds... May have been first event with three Vendors in Attendance. Ed Goetz (Bob's Dad) from Real Rod. TGF Metal Crafters and Mike Adams (Canadian Zaino dealer).

The Prowler Invasion of Canada... One of my all time favorite photos... Kats lined up at Customs going into Canada... Now that I'm thinking about it this could have been the first International Gathering of Prowler Owners... We had a cruise through Canada and stopped at a Casino for deserts and more get acquainted time...

This is were Larry Lord probably got tagged with "Lord of the Miles" after driving his Kat all the way from Los Angeles to Detroit and back...

In as much as I'm optimistic about the future and appreciate the NOW, I really dig truckin' down memory lane even if it's someone elses lane. I thank everyone that responded with memories, verbal as well as pictorial. It allows those of us that came in later on to have a feeling of the roots and connectivity. CJ as far as my sticking around for a long time, I plan on keeping my Kat untill death do us part. Then I want to be cremated and my ashes put under the drivers seat. I know I will be safe there as no one can get there I too am addicted to the Kat and this site. Some addictions are good for you! Thanks to all that make this site function! Jeff

CA, NV, AZ, UT, CO, NE, SD, ND, MN. WI, MI, ONT, OH, WV, VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, LA, TX, NM, AZ and back to CA on that trip.

I covered over 6000 miles and averaged 19.5 MPG while towing my trailer. That trip is where I coined the phrase "Smiles Per Gallon" and I haven't stopped smilin' yet.
The reason for the circuitous route was to fill in the states that I hadn't had a chance to visit. I've now been to 49 states but haven't made it to Hawaii yet.
Still waiting for a bridge to be built so I can drive my Prowler I guess.

While on that trip, I met some great people that I still consider some of my best friends. I had lunch with Gary Febo and Jim McDunn in Cleveland, stopped to recruit Rich Ware in Atlanta, toured N'Awleans and enjoyed benyiets at Cafe Dumond with Laddie and Karen Roussel after borrowing a bedroom for the night at their beautiful home. I even visited the Tabasco factory on Avery Island and Carlsbad Caverns on my way home.

It was on this very trip that I decided to someday plan an event for the Black Hills area of South Dakota. Even though it was two years later, the Crazy Horse Tour of 2001 was a huge success.

I wrote an article chronicling my trip for the PPC's First and only edition of the Prowl Magazine but due to the many delays in printing dates, but mostly my "changing channels" it never made it into print. I sent the article in and never kept a copy, for that, I'm very sorry but I enjoyed every minute of my trip.

I put over 36,000 miles on my car the first year I had it. That's over 100 miles per day and I didn't even drive it to work!

Ahhh, The Memories!

Cool question Jeff!

I learned alot from this thread. As for POA, I would have been seriously in the dark about this car otherwise. This site never ceases to amaze me!

BTW: the pic of the NOS bottle stuck in the nose of the Prowler is frightening!!
