Today's copy of USA TODAY has an article on the Crossfire. Apparently to be produced in large volume with right hand drive model for the European market. Not the exclusivity of the Prowler at all.

There is also an article in the Jan. 7, 2002 issue of AutoWeek on the Crossfire. The same article is on their website at:

http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_c ode=carnews&loc_code=index&content_code=05590977

On the same page in AutoWeek, there is a very short blurb about Prowler.....

Prowler shelved

Not so lucky is the Bob Lutz-developed Chrysler Prowler street rod. The last 300 are being built and production ends in mid-February. Declining sales forced Chrysler to ax the vehicle a year ahead of schedule. Since its debut in 1997, Chrysler has built more than 11,000 of the now-$45,000 two-seater convertibles.

Notice the front "SPLIT" windshield is gone...safety issue. The only thing that sort of set it apart from all the others was the split windshield and stacked headlights. Not now.

Concept to production, a ton of changes. You will see that the Prowler had the least amount of changes from concept to production than any car ever. Now or in the future

After seeing the "backfire" I'd rather be "PROWLING"! I hope they flood the market with them...

Butchee, Ed.

According to press release, that may be the "retractable spoiler is designed into the rear of the vehicle and
activates when the car reaches the designated speed of 50 miles per hour."

Thanks Laddie. Sorry to see DC resort to useless visuals to boost sales. JMO

At www.car-truck.com there is a detailed article about the Crossfire. I was also surprised how much it changed from the concept. If you compare the pictures at car-truck.com to the pictures from the 2001 auto show or motor-trend/car & driver, the windshield, headlights, grille, and much of the back-end has been heavily modified.

It looks like the 21 inch wheels are gone too. THe ends aren't bobbed as close to the wheels either.

Oh my gosh!! It looks like a Hudson Hornet on steroids!!!

Kind of looks like the new Lexis sport model that just came out. To much (CLASS) not enough sport.

The Crossfire is on this week's cover (April 7) of AutoWeek, along with a four page article.
