One hundred thousand dollars, what would you invest it in?
The caveat is, it needs to be in something making you money.

I'm not talking strictly stock (although you could use that for your answer).

We had this discussion yesterday with some friends helping them deliver a yacht offshore (about 100 miles away).

Some would put it in real estate (home for them).
Another would put it in a couple of cheap rent homes.
One would start a mattress business.
One would open an Ice House.
Another would day trade.

What would you do?

I guess if you had the money to invest you probably would want to do something of interest to you(in my case involving cars).
Perhaps opening up an exotic rental/short term leasing company featuring all exotics imagionable(at my diposal at all times,of course).Location -anywhere where there is no salt, sand etc.

I think we would invest at least half of it for our retirement and invest or put away the rest of it towards our grandson's education.

We would invest $20.00 in a solid stock and spend the $99,980. Hoping the $20.00 was a wise investment for retirement.

I would buy $100,000 of pumpkin seeds. Plant all of them. Then sell all the pumpkins that I raised for $10.00 apiece. Then I'd spend all put $20.00 of that.

Bill, I have been thinking about your answer and if someone does the math it's profound. Now if I had enough land to grow pumpkins I would be a millionaire next November 1. Doesn't anyone else have thoughts on how you would spend a $100,000?

pumpkin seeds huh why not make pumpkin pies then cut them into slivers for mcdonalds to retail each slice for 2.00 thats 16.00 per pie each pumpkin makes three pies so 48.00 for each pumpkin times 100,000 pumpkins equals wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL, hope you have a few semi trailers and drivers to haul all them pumpkins in haha

My first thought would be to use the $100,000 as down payments on several properties. But the pumpkin seeds idea sure sounds (and tastes) better.
