Did everyone hear about the SARS(severe acute respiratory syndrome)that is causing havoc in Toronto. It was apparently brought over by an elderly lady travelling from Hong Kong and who subsequently died from the disease. Symptoms are high fever, cough and difficulty breathing. They have so far closed four hospitals down and quarantined literally hundreds of people(and yet everyone on the media is saying there is no cause for concern). I have never been so paranoid about hearing someone coughing as I do now. Scary or what? |

Very Scary, has anyone else come down with it? Won't tell Mom(my Mom and Dad are from Toronto), she still has a few friends from there. Careful |

awfully curious this comes out when we "go to war". I have friends in Asia, it is a really big thing there, but our media, controled by our wonderful president, is not telling us what is really happening. Makes you wonder what is really happening in Irag also. |

quote: Our media controled by President Bush???????? LOL! Todd, tell me you don't honestly believe that? The vast left wing of the media are confirmed liberals (admitadly so). Why do you think Klintoon got away with murder (literally) and all his scandals were so low key. If any Republican President had done half of what Klintoon did, he'd have been drummed out by his own bunch, much less the media. |

This isn't brand new. It raised it's head last summer and again in the fall. But since if it doesn't happen in our neighborhood we never take notice. It is very scary and has change a lot of travel plans. If I was going to Hong Kong right now I would think twice. Actually if I was going anywhere in Asia I would think twice. Voodoo. |

YF, Obviously your not living in the same world I am in. SO I really don't want to get into this with you. But lemme guess, you never heard of the Ira Contra affair "U.S. political scandal in the mid-1980s involving secret weapons transactions. In 1985 Robert McFarlane, head of the National Security Council, authorized sales of weapons to Iran in an attempt to secure release of U.S. hostages held in Lebanon by pro-Iranian terrorist groups. The deal contravened stated policy regarding both dealings with terrorists and military aid to Iran. Part of the $48 million paid by Iran for the arms was diverted to the Nicaraguan contras with the assistance of Rear Adm. John Poindexter and O. North, directly violating a 1984 law banning aid to the contras. A Senate investigation resulted in convictions for North and others (later overturned because of immunity agreements). The affair, which dominated news coverage for months, significantly damaged R. Reagan's administration. " If Clinton had done something like this, he would have been impeached. All Clinton did was get a lil head in the oval office... big deal, so have many other presidents and so do most other men and women go outside their marriage's. WE DO NOT BELONG in someone else's bedroom, PERIOD. Clinton, don't forget, ended his presidency with the end of the government deficit, something the previous 25 years of administrations could not erase. Bush wiped out that surplus in a few months! |

Don't forget the media hype on this: The BIG picture...out of over 2 billion asians, there are 1800 cases. Death rate is 3%... Common flu has a death rate of 15%. It IS serious, and Precautions have to be taken, but I am tired of the media pressing the panic alarm just for ratings.... |

quote: Now who was it that made the "I did not inhale" saying so famous????? I was refering to Vince Foster. We'll never know who was behind it but, having seen my fair share of head shots, I can tell you there is absolutely no way he could have shot himself in the head, in his car, in the park, and there not be blood everywhere. They look in his brief case for 2-3 days and there is no suicide note, then, mysteriously one that is torn in pieces appears in it. There are several websites that chronicles all the mysterious deaths surrounding clintoon. I think it's something like 175 folks. Here are two: http://www.geocities.com/northstarzone/CLINTON.html http://www.lizmichael.com/clintond.htm I particularly like this one, "JAMES MILAN. Found decapitated-Coroner ruled death due to natural causes." clintoon is a pathetic serial rapist, adultering, cheat, draft dodging, liar. I honestly don't know which is worse, what he did or those that defend him. This message has been edited by YellowFever on 04-02-2003 at 01:03 PM |

Sigh.....nothing polarizes this board as much as Off Topic threads.... Maybe we should follow the old saying..."Don't discuss politics or religion with ANYBODY...it only leads to trouble." I have resisted replying to many posts for this reason. |

Lighten up BT161, it's all in fun! Alot more fun to have dialogue with someone that agrees/disagrees with you then to all be fence sitters and say nothing. |

quote: As of this morning , there are over 2200 confirmed cases, 78 more dead from SARS, and it has jump continents incredibly fast. There is also NO remedy or cure for this yet as they do not know which virus or strain it comes from. Think too back to the early 80's when AIDS only affected some monkeys and a number of villagers in a 3rd world country. Most ignored the media on it. Where is that now??? While I agree the media over dramatizes everything, stuff like this bears a very close look. |

We now have seven confirmed deaths in Toronto with over 200 people suspected of carrying the virus. You should see the malls, movie theatres,restaurants-pretty deserted. Someone pass on some good news for a change! |

quote: 175 "MYSTERIOUS DEATHS" surrounding your beloved lying ex-pres. Didn't say murder with those. Why do you democrats always take up for clintoon? That amazes me. I know your not stupid so why defend this scum? If he had been a republican, you guys would have been all over him. I know this is difficult for you but, let's look st the facts: 1) we all know clintoon lies; Now while all of those things don't necessaraily make him a murderer, they also do not. I mean come on, anything he says is suspect and probably not true (ie. "I did not have sex with that woman") While the vast majority are mysterious but, could just be coinsidence, Vince Foster is not. I'm not saying clintoon pulled the trigger or ordered him dead but, Mr. Foster did not commit suicide in his car in that park. Perhaps he did elsewhere and clintoon's croonies brought him there. Perhaps they did it to him. We will never know. The big distinction I see between the radical left and the republicans is that is someone on the left does something obviously wrong, they will defend him to the hilt and swear he didn't do it and/or back him up. Republicans on the other hand won't put up with that and will not defend them (if known to be wrong) and will even speak out against them. clintoon is a pathetic serial rapist, adultering, cheat, draft dodging, liar. I honestly don't know which is worse, what he did or those that defend him. |
