GaryC got me in the mood!

I recently started washing dishes and cleaning the home ... Not an easy transition since my Dad never ever did something like that.

My pride keeps getting in the way and at times I cannot do it with a cheerful heart. I think I'm getting better ...

Bob has always shared household duties since the day we were married. He will even do the grocery shopping, which is the thing I hate the most!

It goes both ways, though........I mow lawns, do the garden work, paint, clean basements and garages, work on cars with him, etc. etc.

I do take care of my own cars, however!

We share the chores at the lake cottage, however, he doesn't get to use the lawn tractor much.......I do all the mowing up there!!

I have dryed the dishes ever since we got married. I load and unload the dishwasher when we use it. I wash the windows outside and I help with the dusting. That is about the extent of my household duties.

I help out, but she is not allowed to mow the lawn. I can not afford the tractor repairs, or what it cost to replace my outdoor railroad track.

I help out occasionally - probably not as often as Gina would like.

She does however mow the lawn... that is her job But if you saw our lawn... well, lets just say, it takes 10 minutes by hand...

We enjoy grocery shopping together, although she complains that she spends more when she takes me!

I really enjoy doing the cooking at times. Hey, last night I even made some cheese (Blanc Fromage - I know what is going through some of your minds )

Dan.........my Dad did. He always cooked breakfast for all 6 kids before he went to work and made sure that we got ready for school! In turn, I helped him mow the lawn, work in the garden and wash his car.

I raised both of my sons so that they were able to be completely independent.........they cleaned their own rooms, did their own wash (and iron) when they were teenagers and helped cook meals. It also helped when they both enlisted in the military. My daughter-in-law thanks me all the time since my son continues the practice and helps her!

Dan,

Always did ALL I could to be a good helper or leader as needed. No Prob.

I think I actually was an enabler. My efforts backfired.

When Astrid (soontobeX)booked she said, "I want no commitments, no responsiilities and no obligations!" Hope I don't cripple my boys by doing too much!

All ya can ever do, is sincerely try to do your best...and pray for guidance.

I do most of the house cleaning, the laundry, yard work and errands (dry cleaning runs, Wal-Mart trips, etc.). Plus it is my job to keep the cars clean, especially Sharon's PT (and my Prowler). Not a bad job . . .

My dad never did ANYTHING at home....but he always worked alot...my mom did it all....to this day, he has never even washed a car.....I entered the military with NO IDEA even how to do laundry(had to learn).....today, I help alot with the dishes, keep the cars/garage clean(my wife hasn't washed a car in at least 20 years),some house keeping since I am home all the time, but she won't let me touch the laundry, it's too technical or something...so I do my part, I get the clothes dirty and she gets them clean ...also have a housekeeper that really takes the stress off us both....have a very small yard(mostly woods) and a friend takes care of mowing that.....

Our monthly fee to the Homeowners Association takes care of all outside maintenance including cutting our grass, cleaning the gutters, shoveling snow (except our sidewalk), painting, etc. We have a cleaning service for the interior once every two weeks. All my clothes for work - pants/shirts are done by pick up laundry/dry cleaning service at work. We eat dinner out 4 days a week average. That leaves some housework and washing/taking care of vehicles. I would guess Rebecca does 75% of housework and I do 85% of stuff for vehicles. I guess that means she does more than me.

One note, I don't believe when I do something like laundry or emptying the garbage or whatever that I am "doing it for the wife". It's our home and our vehicles, so I am doing it for both of us.

Then again - I could just move to Dallas or Chicago and live with cnote or fixxum.

There are only 2 things that I do not do(call it pet peeves or just lack of talent)-cooking and laundry.
I can pretty much handle the rest-having kids and picking up after them is a task in itself.

We just share the chores. I am sure that helped her agree with the Prowler purchase. It only took 34 years to get a cool car! I should have figured it out sooner!!!

kyle is a stay at home dad, he cleans the dishes and mops, and TRIES to do the laundry (he gets tired of buying replacement clothes for what he ruined). I work 45 hrs a week for the fun of it, and take care of the rest of home duties....detail cars, mow lawns, landscaping, painting, cooking, vaccuuming...but in the long run Kyle takes care of what is most important to me...investing and money finances....he pays the bills and lets me buy basically what ever i want with out saying a word....that's how i got my new cadillac...hehehe
