Autoweek is reporting that the Chevy SSR's price will be $41,995. Autoweek joking states "they thought GM was talking about its special-edition SSR model". The SSR goes on sale this summer with a price in the mid-40's and even more for the special & signature edition.

Over weight, Over priced and under powered from what was planned. Prowler is still Top-dog.

Well, the prowler started out with a lower sticker price but, what 97 prowler (back then) went for sticker?

I know of a few that went for $140K. I even know of several early 99's that went for almost $100K. In fact, I think it wasn't until late 2001 that you started seeing anything South of sticker (which by that time was $46K)

If they are able to stick to the $41K, it might be a bargain although the jury is still out on it for me (till I see one)

Another lost opportunity for GM. The 2005 Dakota's will blow it away!

The SSR and the Dakota are not in competition. The SSR is a 2 door sports car (even if it does have a truck bed) and the Dakota is a Truck.

The SSR is still top on my list for my next auto purchase, when prices are reasonable. I do think it is simiar to the Prowler in that is not a race car, but a cruiser. It'll have ample power (290hp), good looks, and a good V8 sound.
