I am not sure if the VRod is being received very well by the hardcore Harley People, they are going after the Ricky racer and sorta missed the boat, JMO, I saw the same show, Motor by Porsche!!!

Never owned a bike....like to hear a Harley idle.....was at a Harley shop near the Grand Canyon recently and they had 3 V-Rods on the floor looking for owners....liked the looks, but I think I would go another route if I was a serious biker....

Past motorcycle owner. 1st in 1965 was Honda 250 Scrambler, 2nd in 1967 was a Harley Sportster XLA (old army surplus and a real beast). 3rd and last one owned was in 1973, it was a Honda 350 4 cylinder. I think Harley Choppers like the Prowler are rolling art.

I like the new V Rod

Have always been in love with bikes.

Had a Yamaha 650 Midnight Special
Yamaha 125 Enduro
Suzuki 750 Intruder
Harley Heritage Softail (completely custom)
Triumph T595
Harley Dyna Wide Glide Two (red w/ 24K gold flames)

The last bike was real interesting because it came (new) from a dealer in Anchorage, shipped to my front door in a crate. Not only was the price great, but for weeks they kept sending me stuff like t-shirts, keychains, etc.

I will probably buy a v-rod now (same as Davidn). this was a design exercise like the Prowler (ironically enough, in aluminum too). Harley needs to go after other markets and bring them into the fold and transform them into cruisers later in life (good marketing strategy)

I am seriously looking at getting a chopper built. I have talked with Roger Borgeut and Jesse James and may talk to a few others before I decide. Of course, if they put my bike and me in their next TV special.....

Past owner - way past - all in the 70's. 185 Suzuki dirt bike, 250 Husqevarna, 74 Yamaha 600, and final bike was a 74 Honda 750 that I tore down, beefed up engine, added headers, custom paint, lowered. Maybe that's why I like mods on my kat.

Just like Marty,,,,way past. Still have my m/c license though.

Yamahas - 2
Honda - 2
BSA - 1
Kawasaki - 2

Street and dirt bikes. BSA 441 Vic was the koolest looking, Honda made the best dependable bikes I owned.

I wonder if Todd will list his Harleys

Do dirt bikes count? If so put me down as a former owner. I moved over to a sand rail to get roll bars and a 4 point harness after too many close calls. Of course sand rails are dangerous too if they are built like crap or driven stupidly.

Past and current owner....

60's - various dirt bikes...
70's - Yamaha 250 Enduro, '73 Kawasaki Z1-900
80's - Kawasaki 550 GPZ & GPZ 1100

In '88 a bought a Suzuki GSX-R 750 & road raced for 3 years at various tracks around Utah, Vegas, AZ, northern and southern CA. Still ride that same bike today

Would love to ride one of the new 4-stroke GP bikes. 325 pounds of bike with 230-250 hp with 3, 4, or 5 cylinders, depending on which brand of motorcycle.

Also have access to ride a Kawasaki ZX 1100, '01 Harley Duece, and a '99 Harley Road King. It doesn't matter to me, I just love to ride.

Hi everyone,
My Kat shares the garage with 7 classic/vintage motorcycles and one Bird (63 Thunderbird). Nothing personal, but you couldn't give me a Harley.

I've got a 1998 Yellow/Black Suzuki GS550 that matches my Prowler

Used to own a 1968 White Honda Dream back in the early 70's.

Great thread, Gary.
DavidN, I have only seen a couple of VRods and I really like them but I did not know they came in anything other than silver. What color do you have?
I agree that the VRods are not being accepted by the Harley hard core.
I have had a few bikes, all Hondas. I don't remember what years and sizes for all of them. The first one I had was not a dirt bike but a small twin, then a 73 (?) 350 4 cylinder, shaft driven. Then I didn't ride for about 20 years and got a 650 Nighthawk, an 1100 Goldwing (82?) and then bought a new 98 Goldwing (1500 cc) and had all three of them for several months. Sold the older two and now just have the 98 with about 66,000 miles on it. Mike Gatlin featured it in the Deadwood movie. lol.
I am probably going to but a new Goldwing (1838 cc) in the next few months.
My oldest son bought three Harleys, two brand new and had to have them towed within weeks of buying them. They died on him. He had a couple of kids and does not have a bike now. My next oldest son had crotch rockets and is talking about getting a bike again. They borrow the Goldwing once a year to ride with the other firefighters but I think he wants something sportier since he is 33.
I like the looks of Harleys and the sound but for a long ride I wouldn't want anything to do with one. JOMO
I have driven to California from Cincy and we drove to Nova Scotia and all the way around the top of Cape Breton plus several trips to Fla, etc. A great way to travel.
I won a wall plaque from the POA (GaryC) at the Grand Canyon event. lol.
