Dodge's hopes of a Winston Cup championship are raised since Penske Racing's decision to move newcomer Ryan Newman and veteran Rusty Wallace from Ford to Dodge. Sports writers are calling the move the most significant change from 2002 to the upcoming season in the Winston Cup series and the Chrysler Group's most significant move since it's decision to re-enter NASCAR's top series two seasons ago.

Cj, Lets not forget that Sterling Marlin was leading the points last year right up to the time he broke a bone in his neck OUCH!!! That was in the Silver Bullet Dodge. The new additions to the Dodge stable can only help. My wife drives a 2002 silver Intrepid R/T. You gotta be able to guess what hat is sitting in the back window.

I read in the paper the other day that they simply changed the sheet metal from a FORD to the Dodge! Is that possible?

All makes will be using the same template this year. I kinda think that is going to far.

I don't think so Ed. They may have tested with only the sheet metal changed. I am definately NOT a proponant of the single template; I'd much rather see the sheet metal move closer to the stock body. Cannot wait for Sterling to return and I am hoping for good things from Andretti's 43. Hey, I already eat all the Cheerios I can. I miss the good old days when NASCAR was actually modified stock cars. Not hand made special cars. All the chassis now are custom made. The only thing on the car close to being actual brand manufacturer is the engine. Can't wait to see what happens if the Hemi gets back in to racing. The only thing that makes a Ford a Ford, a Chevy a Chevy and a Dodge a Dodge is the motor and the sponser. JMO

I agree with Rich - aside from safety issues I think the days of using cars you could actually see in showrooms on the track were more fun. Still, in my opinion NASCAR is a much better spectator event than either FI or Indy Cars.
