I was just watching our national news and they showed this magazine called "National Review" on the front page it has a picture of 4 of our Royal Mounted Police on their horses and under them in bold print is the words WIMPS the magazine goes on to belittle we Canadians, our who way of life, our military, our general attitude to this whole war on terrorism thing. They interviewed the piece of ---t that wrote this crap and he had the bloody nerve to defend all the crap he wrote, sure it's true our military isn't as mighty as the US or some others but one thing I Do Know for sure because many of my family members gave their lives in every war except the Vietnam to help give our great countries the freedom we all enjoy. My Canadian family members and all the other Canadians that gave their lives would roll over in their graves if they knew what kind of crap is being slandered against our people and country.Who where the first to reach out their hands and hearts to help and to give comfort in ever way to our Americian friends after 9/11.. Canadians that's who, after listening to this person tonite on TV all I wanted to do was rip the head off his shoulders and stick it you know where. I certainly hope that all the American people who read this crap, realize after all we Canadian's have done for the Americian people and all the sacrifices we have made that we do not deserve this kind of slander and like myself write the Editor of this magazine and voice your dissatisfaction to their tastless artical. Sorry for the angree words and venting but if that would have been a Canadian who wrote this artical about the US. most would have wanted us blown off the face of the earth.. PK

PK, you have every right to be insulted and angry. HOWEVER, just because one jerk writes an article to see his name in print, it does not make it true. Think of all the negative Prowler articles you have read. While it is not as serious a subject, it proves a point that they do not know what they are talking about. Talk radio is based on getting the most listeners and the hosts will often switch sides of an arguement to keep it going. They need their 15 minutes in the sun to make a name for themselves. Bad press is worse than no press, etc. I certainly would not worry about Canada's reputation with the US. I think it is pretty safe to say that most Americans think of Canadians as friends or cousins. On a personal note, A/C thinks YOU (individually) are a wimp but that is a whole new thread. I am not familiar with National Review but I am sure there will be some letters to the editors.

Todd, ED I wasn't trying to insinuate that all or a majority of americans think this of canadians, this artical was big news all over the TV last nite and I just felt that I'd pass this on to my American friends, man if he would have said we ate to many Hamburgers and most of us are a little over weight I would have agreed but to go as far as he did and also it was stated this magazine was one of the White Houses and the Presidents favorite Mags. He could have insulted our Prime Minister all day in my books I think as much about him as lots of you do about Clinton lol but don't attack my country and fellow Canucks, Mike sorry I put this into the wrong place when I originally posted it PK

PK - Don't worry about one idiots opinion, Canada has always been and will always be a friend of the USA. You have to look at who writes and reads that rag, then just how far off their opinions are from the rest of America.I'm not too young to remember the Iran hostage crisis and when Canada helped free Americans early on. Do any of you remember the "Thank You Canada" billboards in this country back then? Wimps - I don't think so. PK, I think you put it all in perspective when you said it (National Review)was one of Bush's favorite mags. Can't be much of a periodical if it's on his list of favs.

PROWLER-KEITH, this is what I have heard about the Canadians after 9/11. Your Prime Minister came out and said that Americans were asking for it. They are supposed to have taken a poll of Canadians about who was at fault for 9/11, and the majority of them said that it was our fault. Just the way Americans are, made it that we deserved it. I heard this on O'Reilly Factor a number of times. He tried to find any Canadian to speak out for Americans. Also, O'Reilly is bothered that Canada lets in terrorists and then they are free to cross into the US and bomb us. You realize the terrorists have been coming into Canada and then coming to the USA? Canada does nothing to stop them.To tell you where I am coming from, I was born in Vancouver, BC. I am ashamed to hear that any one who pretends to be our friend would blame us for 9/11. I haven't told anyone I was Canadian since 9/11, I am so ashamed. Funny all over your news was this article, but no mention of the poll in Canada about how Americans were asking for it, because we have so much financial success in the world. Having said this I don't really believe most Canadians hate Americans, it is just in the news blowing things up again. I love the country of my birth. I blame the radical liberals that crossed into Canada during the Viet Nam War to escape the draft that are being the active liberals now and bringing up all this hate the USA stuff. "PK, I think you put it all in perspective when you said it (National Review)was one of Bush's favorite mags. Can't be much of a periodical if it's on his list of favs." You know you are hearing the liberal slant if "Prowler" comes out and bashes the mag. You should hear both sides.

P&P I guess I'm going out on a limb here saying this but I've never heard of this poll before and have never heard The "Idiot" that leads our great country say that also or have I heard of a program called the O'Reilly Factor but then again I watch a lot of American tv CNBC mostly. The last few days I spent a fair bit of time watching the History channel and all the documentarys on the different wars and then some local Canuck channels where I seen the picture of the 4 Mounties with wimps under their pics.and heard the interview with the author of the artical.I'm sorry you are ashamed to tell people that you are a Canadian and then and I hope you don't feel like this O'Reilly fellow that we just let terrorists into the US to bomb you because of your financial success. I'm not sure on how those creeps that did the terrible acts on 911 got into the US but didn't some of them get training in the US on flying planes. In my travels I have met many Americans and the ones I have disliked I can count on one hand. Sorry AC!! Nobody asked me for my vote on any poll.. I judge each person I meet weither he's black, white, pink, yellow green, brown American Chinese German East Indian or whatever they may be, This whole terriorist thing has taken away our freedom as we once knew and we will never get that back never never never and it just makes me sick to see small minded people trying to destroy a relationship between our two countries for their short moments of glory in the news or in some magazines. Now don't take me wrong here I'am not speaking of yourself here in this last statement. PK This message has been edited by PROWLER-KEITH on 11-14-2002 at 09:00 PM

PROWLER-KEITH, actually I am sure we agree on all this mess. It really pisses me off that we will never again be able to jump on a plane 5 mins after you arrive at the airport. We will never have the fun of ones friends getting on board for a party when leaving on a sea cruise, and throwing the streemers off the ship. Many other things too. I just wished the press would shut up and not talk to all these wimps that worry about the one in a million chance of things that could happen to us. Churchill had the English just go about their business all the while London was being bombed every day. Nowadays everyone, if you listen to the press, or lawyers, wants 100% safety in everything. Of course the young people want risk. Have you ever seen such risky behavior as sky diving, bungee jumping and lots of the X-Games sports they take up, just to name a few.I know what Canada did fighting in WW II years before the USA got dragged, kicking and screaming, into the war. My dad was in WW II. I am actually proud of all Canada has done and will do. Funny thing is that the only criticism most people have is that Canadians are too polite and end a sentence in eh, eh? The United States is just a sub-province of Canada....lol Or is it the other way round?

P&P.. this sounds alot more like a Canuck would write I knew you would come around. It really peeves me off big time about the airports also because you have no room for the unfortunate delays to happen now, which just adds to the stress of traveling.AC all I can say is "Have You Heard Yourself Speak" lol and as far as the change just keep putting it in a Canadian Funds Bank acct and when you get 1000.00 Canuck bucks just Jurnal it over to my bank acct. GPS John with AC all we can do about him is pray for a mirical lol. Look forward to having a canuck Coffee with you PK

PK, at CTC I told Laddie I got stopped for speeding in the PT and he said, "It had to be in a school zone". This was after I set the new land speed record for a PT at the drag strip. I still have not gotten over the humiliation. lol.
