The following was emailed to me. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? The way our local government operates, who knows? FROM SOMEONE WHO WORKS IN THE TICKET ENFORCEMENT DIVISION Just thought I would share this. In the course of my investigation into "fines, their payment methods, and how points are assessed against drivers licenses", we discovered something very interesting. If you get a traffic ticket, this has been tried and it works. I tried to send this to everyone I know. I know that for a fact this works, so if you ever get in this situation, you have an out. We discovered that this procedure works in every state. Read it and try it, you have nothing to lose but the points on your license. If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you are going to get points on your license, then there is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get any points. When you get your fine, send in the check to pay for it and if the fine is say, $79, then make the check out for $82 or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, but here is the trick! ***DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK!!!*** Throw it away!! Points are not assessed to your license until all financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete. However, the system has gotten its money and is happy and will not bother you any more. This information came to our attention from a very reliable computer company that sets up the standard database used by each states' DMV. Good luck and share this with all your friends and other family members, as well!!! Maybe some certain POA members on the west coast can try this out next time they happen to be in need!!! I can see fro the first couple of posts that the responses are what I expected, but was hoping it might work. Have only bhad one ticket since 1976 (about a dozen before then) but I have only had my CAT since May! Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Danny, Danny, Danny...... You will be relieved to know I am not an officer. I am a civilian. I don't think they could trust me with a gun. Heck - what I do to them with the computer is bad enough (sometimes) I did however relate this story to a couple officers in my office and they had never heard of this - but then, they don't deal with the collection - that is done by the courts. ------------------ |

I do not know about this method that you speak of but I have one that seems to work for me. I have upon more than one occasion asked the officer if he thought that I would live until the court date. At 114 years old when he sees the size of my Depends, gets a look at my 28 year old co pilot and hears my sob story, I usually walk free. By the way, I haven't said much to anyone, cause I don't like to talk about this, but as of tomorrow I shall be one year older. I sure hope that I do not lose any of my prowess. Take care, my hungry-man dinner just finished being microwaved and I want to hurry up and eat so that I can take in the local sunset and maybe catch a wave or two. Scot ------------------ |
