Gar, My state senator was advised that you might be driving the TD Ram through Az. He said that Prowlerman would be exempt, unless there is a open bottle of JD on the front seat!

more of the govt getting involved in your life..it seems that people think that its a good thing..but in reality its the way you can enslave people..you take away thier freedoms on bit at a time..while they sleep...if someone told you in 1960 that there would be laws to keep your headlights on when it rains...keeping them on now all the time ...wear helmets on a motor cycle...seat belts...air bags...gun locks..restriction of weapons..helmets for kids scooters and bikes...cant dig here..cant open new refinerys there..watch out for the damn spotted owl and the kangaroo rat...etc..you wouldnt believe them would you..now its something that you just do and not really think about it.
wake up...its not a good thing...by the way..isnt there a shortage of fuel and electricity....???? hmmmm wonder why...
more of govt telling you what you can and cant do...
keep sleeping....just dont wake up and bitch about it one day...its for the good of us...yeah right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One gripe at a time garbageman-You drive a lot in your profession during the day. How many times have you cursed at some jerk for weaving, driving slow, or just not paying attention while on the phone and driving at the same time.
Bet if one of your kids got wasted by one of these people that can't do two things at the same time, it might change your mind. Noone likes govermnent control, or any other for that matter. Unfortunately, there's no part of the driving test to certify this quality. Lets see , restrictions: glasses, no phone use, etc

oh well, just another law to ignore. I won't wear a seat belt, I disconnect DRL's on my Chevy's, and I don't hug trees.

If studies show that people get killed or kill others from phone use while driving and a law is implemented that stops phone use while driving and the big IF is that if people follow this law, then the answer is yes, it will stop phone use fatalites. Personally, I don't care what laws they pass as I knowingly break the laws every day.I do what I want-period. But this is not to say that lawmakers will stand by and make no attempt to correct knowing that noone will listen. The only real way to protect us from ourselves is to have a cop one on one, and that wont happen. Yes, big brother is watching, and it $uck$

I would have to agree to a point with my so called "liberal" friend Al. I've been in several near misses with some moron talking on a cell phone. If you read the law there is a great loop hole. Get a hands free set, and you won't get a ticket. I use my all the time.

It's a shame the government has to try to protect its citizens from themselves and their stupid neighbors. You know why OSHA puts all those warnings on ladders, it so the moron who falls off it and breaks his neck because he set bottom in a mud hole doesn't sue the crap out of the ladder manufacturer, driving up its cost or putting it out of business.

Superdan, let's get rid of all the laws?? Sure, the first thing I think I will do is get a couple of drums of nerve gas, hell it's legal. Think I'll store them out back and use them as a back drop for my shooting range. Let me wipe out my entire community and see how my conservative counter parts react.

As far as laws protecting the environment goes. All you who say this is a great country and you would fight and die for our rights and flag. What about our country's symbol, the American Bald Eagle. If it wasn't for a law this great symbol of our country would be extinct.

I would agree that there are too many dumb laws but most are really needed and do save lives.

Dave,

I would say the politicians.

On a side note, one of my clients is the House of Representatives. They pass certain financial control laws that other federal agencies have to follow. They are exempt and only follow the ones they want. I can't say more, but it is funny that my other federal clients have to follow all rules but when I go to the House I have to remember another set of rules.

Garbgeman, don't twist my words. If I break the law and I get caught, hey, I pay the piper. I realize this is the chance I take and accept the consequences. I've grown out of blaming the cop for doing his job. OK, repeal all the laws-good idea. What do we do then, wear side arms? No regression there, eh? Helmets weren't for our protection. They were to lessen manslaughter charges if we got knocked off and cracked our heads. Lets remove all the road rules too! Make the roads with big troughs on the side to collect the road rage casualties. Run a big loader up the thing to scoop all the human debris from time to time. Like that idea? Hey Jeff, we're not so far apart. As you said, there appears to be two sets of rules-this is where the problem lies, and I believe this is taught or not in the home and is carried forward by a child into his or her adult years. I adopted two main rules as a teen that looking back, changed my life. Always tell the truth is one, and put yourself in the other person's place is the other. I'm no saint, but try to follow this creed. This has given me insite into my own psyche, and confidence in my own beliefs. Yeah Dave, the politicians are a joke as a whole. If they weren't corrupt when they went in, they will be by the time they leave-if you can get them to leave. I look at Ted Kennedy, the swimmer, and wonder what's wrong with this picture? Who the hell would want to follow anything he says-I wouldn't. I've been spouting too long. OMO

Butchee, I have to say I agree with what you said. I think everyone with a cell phone or car phone should be required to have the phone number on the rear bumper so you could call them and tell them to get the hell out of the way. I have seen accidents caused by people talking on the phone, and then they don't even hang up after they hit the other car. Unbelievable. Pull over if it is that important. People back east still think Teddy K. is great. Hard to believe. What does it take to turn them off on someone? I said enough also.

Jeff: Well, for once we agree on something. It seems the politicians want to make the laws for everybody but themselves. If Social Security is so great...why do they have their own plan and participate? As for the bald Eagle, species die out all the time. Man has only been on earth for what amounts to the blink of an eye in geologic terms. There is always some species at the top of the food chain. If Man doesn't work out, nature will start over. That's the way it is.

Dave, I guess we do. It is sad that the majority of politicians after having the "power" are so unwilling to give it up and are out to set themselves up with some good perks after they leave.

What ever happened to the days of the citizen politician.

As far as the bald eagle. Man is the first species in history to have the knowledge and arrogance to think it should be able to destroy itself and the rest of this earth's species. Not sure Darwin thought of DDT and nuclear weapons when he came up with natural selection.

it seems to be easy to look back and pick and choose the laws you want to have and the ones that are no good....but many of these laws are unconstitutional...in fact most of them are..there is no mention of restricting cell phone use...cigarette smoking etc...i stand by my convictions..
the more laws the more we cant do.....so you can pick and choose..but one day theyll pass a law that will hit home to you and then what..theyll take something away that will really mean a lot..and then theres no turning back...its on the horizon...but im crazy as a loon anyway...so what the hell...i just keep paying more and more taxes for other peoples mistakes and other peoples pockets....enough of this...i enjoyed the argument...best one we had...i think..
lol....enjoy the day................superdan
