Odd's are against a Labonte repeat. Just as long as Earnhardt doesnt win. I still like Gorden--and take a lot of heat for doing so.

Al: I like anybody but Gordon. He is a whiner and a cry baby. He cried on stage at the awards! He just isn't a good ole boy I guess. The fans sure "boo" him at the track.

The winner is the one with the most points, unless it is for president of the United Stated

I too don't know who is playing or even care.

Now for NASCAR LET THE GAMES BEGIN The Dodge Boys are back and the RULES HAVE CHANGED

To see KING RICHARD's cars campaining with the Dodge banner will be a GREAT DAY. to bad Plymouth isn't around to be pasted on the rear quarter

What is wrong with Dale E. other than the bowtie he wears.
He can do it one more time. Much better than cry baby boy. But the good old boys are now all good old owners that want to make the big bucks so they need the pretty boys like Jeff G. to sell product to make the sponsers $$$$$$$

THE REAL QUESTION

WHO WILL WIN DAYTONA 500?

The days of guts and glory in Nascar are over.Yeah, Dale can do it one more time-like Waltrip, right? LOSER!!!He doesn't deserve a Chevy. Dale's a dirty driver, but seems to have gotten better recently. Gordon is a puss-but can drive with the best of them. When his car is good and he's not being taken out by that Home Depot pu$$y, indy cast~off Stewart, he does good.

Dale E. is a punk, he drives like it was 20 years ago he takes the leader out to take the win. Dale got off his dead @$$ because his son showed up last year, he couldn't be showed up.

Now on the other hand when Dale out drives the other driver that is a different story, I love it when he out foxes everybody.

I like Gordon, everything he has driven he dominated. The crying deal on stage had to do with his boss fighting for his life.

Drivers I hate are Geoff Bodine and Rusty Wallace. Geoff is a hazzard and rusty is truely the KING of THE WHINERS.

Of course your opinion might be differ.

I like and feel sorry for Mike Waltrip, I hope he gets a win this year.

JMO - Ravens 21 Giants - 17 Could go either way with the same score.

Joe Gibbs Racing Rules, but this year its Tony Stewart turn in the HOME DEPOT Pontiac, plenty of money to win with. Teamwork!

Can we talk? Real race cars DON'T have fenders, hoods, doors, trunks, and mechanics named Bubba.
Real race cars turn Fontana @ 240MPH, OPEN WHEELS, side by side, fraction of an inch apart - that is real balls.

Well, lets see what I can start?

Well Gary, for once we agree on something. Michael will be driving for Earnhardt Racing this year. This should give him a really competitive ride. If he has the ability to win, this could be his year. Personally I have always favored the Petty clan. It will be good to see them back in a Dodge, although Plymouth would have been better. I agree with Larry on that one.

ALLEY,

One person and one person only is responsable for the huge failure open wheel cars,TONY GEORGE.

Ok here I go, I use to live in Indy, the month of May was a huge deal to me growing as a total gear head kid. Everyday after school we would race ourselves to the west side of Indy and watch every lap of whatever. On the weekends we would go. My MOM was way into it, with stopwatches paperwork...over the top. In 1964 AND 65 Graham Hill was our house guest. I even to this day have the HILL sign that Graham signed when him and my dad were coming back from the CClub a little boozed up. Anyways, we WERE on open wheel family, for life until TONY.

Both Cart and Indy whatever league are diluted and will never return to the greatness they both had until the split.Because of the Brickyard 400 and now the F1 race TONY will never try to get it back the way it was.

BTW, NASCAR then the World of Outlaws then Indy cars in that order are the most popular.

So??????????????

I totally agree with all that you said. That may be a first right there!

I was refering that Indy car racing is real balls, as would be F1 if the cars weren't so unequal (hardly any side by side racing anymore). I have followed NDCars for 46 years, and I still get excited watching a race on a superspeedway. Driving 220 plus, wheel to wheel, or wheel next to body tub, and a shot from onboard cameras doing that, just blows me away. We are talking real racing drivers now, not just staying in a line and drafting each other and waiting for the last four or five laps to race.
I could go on for hours, but yes, Tony Hulman is turning over in his caskets at what the grandson has done with the best race in the world. Will never be the same as far as spectators, attendance, and general interest - but still is the best racing in the world>.

Now if it wasn't for the Nascar RULES slowing the cars down there would not be just drafting until the end.

All the owners want to be competitive and they try and get by with as much as possible to still meet NASCAR rules. With weight pentalties, air flow design diferences NASCAR wants the cars to run equal. This is not what racing was about in the Good Old Boy days.

Yea they tried to cheat, and some got by with it. Now there are too many restrictions to make the fast tracks fast anymore. WHAT MANUFACTURER WAS THE 1ST TO BREAK 200 IN A NASCAR RACER, and what YEAR? How many can do that today? NONE Nascar does not want the speed.

If 30 years ago they could run that fast and the drivers were really racing, Now it is the best pit stops. Drafting is now a way of life for Nascar.

AS FOR TONY GEORGE Worst thing that could have ever happened to Indy Car Racing. I live less than 20 miles from Speedway, but have no desire to go and spend my money to see bleachers, be restricted from drivers and be treated like 2nd class citizen.

They should start an all out Outlaw Nascar to see who has what it takes to rule the track.

HEMI POWERED SUPERBIRD WOULD STILL KICK A** 31 years later

Larry-my guess is that Elliot was the first over 200 with Ford~~~Mid 70s. While I too miss the no holds barred racing of the past, I think I can understand why the smaller holed plates. Now that Nascar is the most viewed sport of all, bar none, accident control has taken over. While not as bad as the IROC cars, the modern rules make the drivers think more rather then stab and steer.

AL,

NO WAY I have always been a "Awesume Bill From Dawsonville" fan, but he didn't do it.

In a Furd NOTTA, so that leaves out FORD'S Talledaga Torino

any other guesses?

It happened at Talledaga in 1970.

On March 24, 1970, Buddy Baker guided the Chrysler Engineering #88 Dodge Daytona to a closed course speed record of 200.447 MPH, becoming the first stock car driver to officially exceed the magic 200 MPH mark.

I knew it was a Superbird.

The saddest part about Nascar is that they have gotten away from the use of "stock" cars. The bodies are getting so similar that it is hard to tell what it is at 180 miles an hour. You can't go out and buy what they race now, even though they say they are Fords, Chevys, Pontiacs and now Dodge. Make the templates match the factory cars and get rid of restrictor plates. Just let these guys go racin'

Gary, you are correct down to the Superbird part. Basicly the same car but Dodge was built on Charger and Superbird on Roadrunner. It was as you stated a Dodge Daytona Charger that Buddy Baker was driving to make the 1st 200+ run in a Nascar.

I doubt it made any difference as to Dodge or Plymouth, I think he could have done it in either.

I did see this past week that the wing on the Daytona Charger was shorter than on Superbird. This is due to the difference in the lenght of the trunk lid.

I agree with Dave M. use the cars we can buy. That is why it was called STOCK CAR. Make some rear wheel drive cars we can buy and go to track on Saturday night and race if we want Or make them run these front wheel drive things.

What happened to the 500 or 2 per dealer quota. Make 2 cars per dealer of the Intrepid, Gran Prix, Monte Carlo, Tauras rear wheel drive. Then see what sells on Monday

I know Nascar has the most following of all motor racing with the most loyal fans BUT how many Hemi cars were sold because Richard Petty had a Hemi in his race car.

I know of a `66 Hemi Charger that a lady bought new because she wanted a hemi because of King Richard, even thou the saleman tried to talk her out of it.

Maybe we need one sunday night per month to go into text chat room and talk racing? Just for fun - although lots of Jeff Gordon bashing, etc. will take place.

We can get rowdy and mad at each other for a couple of hours, and then forget about it for 30 days.

If any interest or comments, start a new thread. Racing and SuperBowl don't go together.

Larry, give it up, you have a silver Cat and the other three all have yellow cats. You are outnumbered. Or you could form an all-Larry Alliance and then maybe get back in it.

Well, we like Nascar. My son is biggest fan. I like Dale Sr. My son likes Gordon & I think he likes Lil E. But this gives us enough to pick on each other...

I'm leaving this Thursday for the Rolex 24 hrs in Daytona. The Earnharts (Sr.& Jr.) are two drivers for one of the C5vette racing teams. They will be driving the #3 vette along with 3rd driver.

This year I will be pulling for the Dodge team of Everham.

Nyle - have a good time. The Vipers will eat up those C5Vettes

Ed - you are right, how dumb of me to challenge three yellow cat owners, I'd loose for sure. Your advice is always a cut above!
