Dirt Road to the top? Not on your life! But I do plan on cruising a lot of the roads nearby, especially over the Royal Gorge Bridge!

The Royal Gorge bridge should be safe. They were repairing it when we were there several years ago. We could only walk across.

There is no way in heck I would drive across that bridge in a Prowler or any other vehicle. If you do, just make sure you don't go to the bottom of the canyon first and look up at the bridge. That way you won't see all the daylight between the slats that make up the surface of the bridge. After seeing that, I wasn't comfortable walking on the bridge, let alone driving on it. And remember you HAVE to turn right around a drive back across it.......!! Pass.........!!!

Ed - I will not take Prowler up PPeak. Did that with a 72 Pinto, and barely made it!The Royal Gorge Bridge is awesome. Yes, first go down on the incline ride to bottom of gorge and look up - how cool! CJ - they have only lost two cars going thru the slats falling to the bottom - what is the problem? hehe L.Lord - If you are taking US 50 from Montrose to Canyon City, you will still see some snow, even in late June. Trivia question: without going to a map - what is the river beneath the Royal Gorge Bridge ---- Colorado residents EXCLUDED. ------------------ Larry Salzman Shimmers RealRod Air Patrol Carlini Chrome Trans Cooler Cover Mopar Bra Black Panther ride-along Baffles removed AZ - POA

CJ, I don't like heights, either. My kids were reaching over and pulling on the support cables to make the bridge sway. I told them to come over to the middle of the bridge, where I was, so I could kick their butts. They were laying on the deck looking thru the cracks. They are all firemen now. I hate looking over the edge of anything. The bridge was being repaired and a guy was sitting up on the superstructure without any net or lifeline. NUTS. It is pretty awesome, though.

Alleycat Like my daughter once said "I know but I'm not telling". I've fished and rafted the river several times as my brother lived in Salida for 15 years.------------------ MRCAT2U

Oh come on CJ. They're not that big. My size 11's span them just fine. However your size 6's just might not. A couple years ago we came thru there after a camping trip at the Great Sand Dunes and not only walked across but drove across as well. With those old boards thumping under the tires of my truck it was a little scary but we had our bunjee cords ready just in case. By the way it is a thru road over the bridge, the road on the back side, returning to the highway is almost as scary as the drive over the bridge.------------------ MRCAT2U

I don't even want to watch that type of activity. I don't like heights, even if it is not me at the edge of it. Count me out.
