I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "In God! We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to Sit Down and BE QUIET!!! ------------------ Larry Pennington |

how about if we take that 14%,give them an all expence paid trip to,oh i don't know, let's say......IRAQ.they can enjoy the warm climate, palm trees and just experience the overall local flavor.i would venture to guess when that 14% got back, they would'nt have to be told to sit down and shut-up. bye the way nice flag Butchcee

Maybe we should just redefine "God" to be whatever or whoever it was that created Earth.... There are already many definitions of God... too many to count... one more couldn't hurt. Then, if you believe that Earth exists, then you believe in God.... then everyone should be ok... I don't know why people get so hung up on semantics and connotations all the time. There are more important things. You know... if you look at the pledge or the money... it doesn't specify a religion... it doesn't say who or what God is. It doesn't tell you what to believe. It doesn't even tell you who "we" are... The "we" on the money could mean the government employees at the mint, for all I know. Since we don't know for sure what "we" means, maybe we whould ban "we" on the money too.... just shorten the phrase to say "Trust." The bad thing is how this sort of thing affects text books... Any word or any concept that carries the slightest hint of political incorrectness or potential offensiveness to anyone is basically banned, for fear of law suits. Before long, we'll have to replace our teachers with robots, so that we can be sure we are not imparting biased opinions on our youth. |
