Who uses Nextel as their cell carrier? What do like/dislike compared to Sprint, Verizon, T Mobile or others?

Marty: I have Nextel. My plan is $49.99 per month unlimited with nationwide Direct Connect (two-way). My biggest problem was on the trip to Texas, it was dead through most of Kentucky but my wife's phone had service the whole way with no dead spots using AT&T. Here in the Northeast, I have great service with Nextel.

I've been very happy with Verizon. Very few dead spots.

I have had Nextel ever since came to our area. Check their coverage areas before you commit. Two way radio is a great communication tool!

I have the same as Dave Mills. I use about a dozen of them between my guys at work and my family. They work great here,I know where the dead spots are, and you compensate. Can't bea the two way. Alot of great features for Nascar now.

I was wondering how the dead spots were when traveling. Our company has used Sprint for at least six yearsand they are just now getting decent coverage in areas where I travel for business. It seems they have good coverage in major cities so if I fly I'll be ok but coverage when driving may be another thing altogether.

I am sure the two way feature will be used a lot of my business but I don't really have any friends using Nextel. I guess time will tell on whether it is bettter or worse than Sprint for my use.

I have already noticed the battery barely lasts one day. I used to get three or four days on my last Sprint phone.

Thanks for the responses

Marty: I got a battery upgrade that now lasts about 4 days for my i35 phone. When traveling with Nextel, I found that your messages catch up with you quicker if you turn the phone off and let it boot up in the cell for the local area you are in.

I have Nextel and the coverage is not as good as Sandy's phone. The two way is great. I have a couple of phone chargers for the car but no outlet on the M/C to plug them into.

Marty: Ken has Nextel and when we travel we rely on my phone (Cingular), not his. His works great for the areas he has to fly to all of the time (Denver, Houston, Chicago, etc.) but is horrible in rural settings or driving. But his company uses the radio alot, so it was the one of choice. T

Marty, I have been using Nextel in my business since they 1st came out. They work great (same coverage problem as others) for the business. JD and I both use 'em and we had some areas on the drive to Woodward where they didn't work. Before going out of town I check out Nextel's coverage on their website and decide whether to take my Nextel, my old AT&T or both. Heading to Montana Wednesday and will only take the AT&T phone as Nextel's coverage is sparse.
