Today at work one of the kids told me how his dad had just died a few months ago and his sister had called him to say his dad left him a car. The sister has paid the storage bill for the past few months and wanted to know if this young fellow (20) years could come pick up the car? I said Chris where did your dad live? He lived in New York was the reply , But I havent seen him in Quite a few years. He said he really wanted to pick up the car as he had fond memories of driving around in that Blue convertible. I asked what kind of car is it. He said he didnt know too much about cars but remembered his dad bought it new in 1969 or 1970 and that it was a " Cuda" With a stripe that said Hemi on it!!! Chris, are you sure it is a convertible? Absolutley! So I offered to help him go get it! TRUE STORY! PS ( Yes I told him what it was worth!!) MIke DQ Man

if he has the vin# for the car it should read....BS27R0B###### if it is a 1970....if it is a 1971 it will be BS27R1B######... B = Barracuda S = Special(Cuda) 27 = convertable R = 426 HEMI 0 or 1 = model year (1970, 1971) B = Hamtramack assembly plant....rest of the vin is just the sequential vin #....hope the kid is right, but the last I knew, all of the HEMICUDA convertables were accounted for....there were only about 14-16 total built for both years....I forget the exact break down, but it seems like 9 in 1970 and 7 or so in 1971.....a couple of years ago there were a couple found in France of all places.....my guess is the car is not a HEMI....bright side....any CUDA convertable with virtually any engine is still valuable, even if it is a pile of rubble......let us know how this turns out....could be anywhere from $20K to $2million.....

a few other codes to think on....a plain Barracuda is .... BH(hardtop/conv) and BP for a Grand Coupe hardtop is ....23 Special Edition hardtop is ....29 440 six pak is a V instead of an R.... I think 383 is a G instead of an R, and a plain 440 is a U...something is an N, must be a 318 and H is for a 340...
this is all from memory, I think it is 100% correct, but I could have missed one.....the first 5 digits will tell the tale of what the car is.... This message has been edited by tangled up in BLUE on 09-27-2004 at 05:17 PM

Tangled, I told him to call his sister tomorrow and have her read the #s off the title. He said he has a picture of the car and will bring it in tomorrow. I think it probably is a conv. that his dad put a hemi in. HE is very sure it says hemi on the car. I am excited! Mike

Hay blue: you have one of the coolest looking Prowlers I have seen on this site. Been surfing for 3mo. till I found the black one that BoB from Real Rods posted for Brookdale Dodge. Flu out and drove it back, fell in love with it. The cars are a gas to drive and get good gas milage to. Prowlers stop, turn, and over all drive better than the old cars that I have. What I realy like the most are the people that are associated with the cars them self, so far all class acts and the site is a great plus.

Even if it's a clone car it has cash value. Since I buy and sell cars on the side, would not take my real car out for cruises. That's what makes clones so valuable, because there drivers. Most people on the street don't know the difference. There are more HEMI cars out there than were ever built, do your research and don't get burned. Decode vin tag under hood by battery, check for build sheet under rear seat K-frame should have skid plate and rear boxes were springs mount have extra support. Eight places on car should have matching vin. Car being conv. still has great value.
