This one has been floating around the internet for quite some time now.

According to Snopes, "Origins: Meteorologists (including Dr. Steve Lyons, the Weather Channel's hurricane expert) agree that the photos displayed above are not pictures of any hurricane at all, much less Hurricane Isabel, which struck the eastern United States in September 2003 — they depict shelf clouds or wall clouds typically associated with severe thunderstorms and tornadoes rather than hurricanes, and the water in the first picture appears too smooth for the area of an approaching hurricane. (Even if these images did depict the approach of a hurricane, they're too old to be photographs of Hurricane Isabel — these same pictures were circulating as photographs of Hurricane Claudette back in July 2003 and of Cyclone Indigo in April 2003.)

Some believe the photographs to have been taken in the midwestern U.S. or Great Lakes region, although at least one source identifies the first image as being a picture of Tropical Cyclone Graham, which hit northwest Australia in February 2003. "

it was sent to me some time ago and just found it again. In no way would I say that it is what the person sending it to me said it was, but still a very intriguing photo. I should have said that in the first post but hit the send key prematurely. Just was passing it along.

Whether it is a hurricane or not, it's still a wicked sight.

As one who rode through a hurricane on a cruise liner, I can attest to the fact that the waters are no where near that calm before the storm.

We skirted the edges of the hurricane and ran into 60'+ swells. We were getting spray from several of the swells on our veranda and we were on the 8th deck.

This lasted for approximately 24-30 hours and was a hoot!

A cruise liner may be rough. Try an LST which is a Navy ship. I guess we were on the first deck, fun, fun .
