"By now, there are many of us loyal Democrats who feel uncomfortable in seeing that you have chosen the rich over the poor, unilateral pre-emptive war over a strong nation united with others for peace, lies and obfuscation over the truth and the political technique of character assassination as a way to win elections or to garner a few moments of applause," What is it with these democrats? Look, I don't mind differences in opinions. That is what made this country great but, when did we turn into this "Us versus Them" mentality and "Win at any cost, even if it hurts the populus"? I honestly think the democrats have done themselves a great disservice over the last 12 years. First, character didn't matter. Then service didn't matter (how ironic that it does now). Then they couldn't and wouldn't disassociate themselves from clinton. What an embarassment to any party he is. Can you imagine if he had been a republican how much differently this would have turned out? I also get really sick of the tired old "Republicans are the party of the rich" mantra. Tell that to Barbara Streisand, Tom Hanks, or Steven Speilberg (to name but, a few poor democrats). That Republicans are nothing but, stuffy old white guys and the party of exclusion. How many qualified folks of color are on President Bush's staff? How many were on clinton's???

Habitat for Humanity work aside, Jimmy Carter is one of the worst Presidents we ever had."Hey, that Shah of Iran fellow is a corrupt autocrat. Let's betray him and turn an oil-rich, nominally free, pro-Western nation into a theocratic dictatorship that will become a haven for terrorists and put a bunch of religious fanatics in charge of a sizable portion of the planet's petroleum reserve." You really can trace the War on Terror back to the Carter presidency. Don't misunderstand me: I'm not suggesting that Carter is responsible for 9/11 or the War on Terror. But Carter did commit one of history's greatest foreign policy blunders which did lay the groundwork for the rise of Islamic fanaticism.

Hey watch it now Ed I'm still drinking Billy Beer. Actually when I moved to Atlanta I met him in the hotel bar where I was staying. He was quite a character.
