I have more stories and fun than they do, trust me.
I had nothing to do with it, but last night one of the driver's got a 4 wheel-drive SUV from a huge house with a very long driveway. The owner came out and said there was a mix-up. The driver had heard that story a few times. The owner insisted they were trading down to a smaller car today. The driver told him he could work all of that out after he got it out of the impound lot.
That is when the owner got nasty.
The driver hooked up the car and had to put it on dollies, due to being a 4 wheel drive, and the owner called the county mounties. He reported it was being stolen. The driver overheard the call and immediately called in that it was a re-po. The driver waited at the bottom of the driveway and told the deputies what occurred. They asked him if he had heard the owner call it in as a "stolen car". He said yes so they arrested the owner for making a false police report.
Oh yeah, the owner of the car was George Fiorini, who was just convicted last month in Federal Court for stock fraud, and bilking millions of dollars from investors. This mornings paper had a big article about him leaving for Maine, this morning, while awaiting his appointed time to report to the Fed. Pen. I guess he didn't go, and certainly not in his new 4 wheel drive SUV.
The story was written before his confrontation last night, obviously. He claimed the car was his mother's. (She has been dead for 5 years and the car is brand new.) I guess if you are a con man, it is tough to change your stripes. I wish I would have been there since I knew who he was and know his name.

We carried all our own paper from the 40's thru the 70's. I did the repos and collections from the time I was 16 til (well, later) One of the best was the guy that pulled out a 12 ga. shotgun. Just came back to town and sent the sheriff out to get it (the car that is). Back in those days the sheriff would do things like that. We sold him some high power Pontiacs for pursuit vehicles back then. Most of the time I never had any problems. One time I had to travel about 100 miles to find a car. When I repo-ed it, I drove it to the nearest town and sold it to one of the local car dealers in that town. Had the dealer drive me back out to the contry to get my car that I had left at the farmers house. I guess that things have changed a lot now about what is allowed. Deadbeats have a lot more "rights" now. Problem is: They know it.
