ALLEY CAT Prowler Junkie Posts: 36093 From: Mesa, Az Registered: JUL 2000	posted 08-23-2004 08:22 PM CAUTION: This cat went through the auto auction "twice" within 12 months. Maybe nothing wrong with it,,,but a red flag comes to my mind. I'd proceed with extreme caution. JMO

I know the general Prowler stuff like checking the chrome on the wheels, but what other items should we check on? Any and all suggestions are appreciated
ALLEY CAT Prowler Junkie Posts: 36093 From: Mesa, Az Registered: JUL 2000	posted 08-23-2004 10:22 PM I'd be looking under every seam of that cat for abusive wear. Low miles can sometimes fool you into thinking all is well,,,,when maybe it had several owners who just punished the car for a short time and then just unloaded it. Have a tech check out the engine and tranny,,and do a complete visual of the underside as well. Soft top have any wear or holes in it? etc etc Just remember, replacing parts on these cars isn't cheap. JMO
YellowFever unregistered Posts: 36093 From: Mesa, Az Registered: JUL 2000	posted 08-24-2004 01:05 PM I've said it a million times, a CarFax CAN be fooled. If the car was severly wrecked BUT, not reported to insurance, it will have no record of damage. If a person buys the car, adds 1000 miles to the OD, then disconnects if for the next 20,000 miles, then reconnects it before selling. CarFax will not suspect anything. If you are serious about any car, hire a good mechanic to give it the once over and check everything. They can tell you things like cylinder compression and such that a CarFax would have no idea about. It may well be the best $150 you spend........
