Last night, driving home from the Bruce Hornsby concert, a brand new Acura RSX kept pulling up along side of me and goosing it. He obviously wanted to race my kat, but I never kicked it in. I know the RSX has 160 hp @ 6500 rpm and weighs around 2,700 lbs. So should I have put him in his place?

I had a guy in an Acura that thought he was hot stuff doing the same to me one day not long ago. We were in some moderate/heavy traffic on the freeway. There were a few open spaces we could run, but not many, and not for any length of time. It wasn't too smart, but I gave him a run for his money. We started at about 65/70mph and went from there. All I had to do was hit the gas and he dropped off. Never caught up, even through hitting the traffic ahead. I toyed with him a while. At 100mph, he stood no chance at all and just dropped further behind and eventually gave up trying. I don't think he could go faster than about 95mph. Then he hid his head in shame burying himself in traffic. I'll bet his compadres riding with him let him know what a wimpy car he had (or what a monster car I have) Be glad you saved your gas.

AC:I may be way off but even with a V8, the SSR is still pulling lots and lots of weight. Do you think it'll even be close? 3rdDegreeBurns - not sure, hope not It's more of a battle of the domestic retro built cars, for me. When word came out that Chevy was going to build it with a V-8, the GM guys ran their mouths about it. Little did they know about the weight factor then, so I'd like to race a couple of the stock ones to see if their chatter continues. The aftermarket parts will prove they have more potential overall. AC - Visit a dealership with a friend of yours, and have him test drive one in the lane next to you. It doesn't matter if the salesman is in the car too or not. When I test drive, they won't let their cars on the freeway, but I get on one anyway. It drives 'em wild. (Pun intended.) I test drive the car as I would drive it. What are they gonna do? Jump out? Have him arrested for test driving the car and seeing what kind of pick up it has? Not sell it to the guy? If he "tells" on him when they get back, he could always say the salesman told him to "hit it". Hey, it was just an idea...

My boss said that the other day a Prowler pulled next to him and kept acting like he wanted to race. He was in his Mercedes SL500. He didn't race him, unfortunately. Guess it was pretty funny from his perspective. He said it was a guy in his 60s with a female passenger and the guy kept revving his engine and looking over at him with a sneer and gripping the steering wheel like he was holding on to it for his life.

It would be interesting to know what cars our stock-engine Prowlers have outrun. I guess I only want to race if I think I can win!!!
