...while roaming the grounds at National Trails Raceway this past weekend my wife spotted the "Green Weenie" as it was commonly refered to during the decade it spent in our family..... ...I bought the car in 1980 from the original owner here in New Castle with only 10K original miles and put another 15K miles on it during the next decade...I sold the car to a disc jockey in Tampa by the name of Mason Dixon.....he kept the car for several years also....during the years I owned the Daytona it appeared in many books and magazines and Mason proceeded to get it in more magazines during the ninties....the Daytona has also been turned into a toy by several different diecast manufacturers....this car got more press than nearly any car I owned(must be the color) .....it has a good home in Cleveland these days, but I let him know the Daytona had a home to return to in New Castle anytime.... ...there were several of my previous cars at the show, but this is my favorite..... ...ps...it has had less than 1K miles put on it since I sold it 15 years ago....

Larry - very cool! I remember when those came out - my sister's boyfriend's parents owned the local dealership and both he and his brother got one of the winged beasts - pretty cool to see them going down the road - no one else had them at the time. People would just stop and stare - still do I would imagine. We had a super bee pull up along side of us a couple of months ago with the wing - enjoyed seeing it!! They waved at us and gave us the thumbs up as did we them. Tami

This summer at a local car show, I met the original owner of my 1966 Sport Fury Convertible. It was interesting to fill in the blanks in the car's history. I have owned it since 1991.

...here is a pix of my son and I with the "Green Weenie" in 1984....the car had a black stripe for the first 20 years, then it was changed to white.....I had just bought my first 1970 Challenger T/A and had become a multiple MOPAR owner for the first time...the original owner of the car is still in town and I see him several times a week......my son is now 26 years old and 6'5".....I am shorter and wider .......there is still a one owner blue/blue Daytona in New Castle, .....at one time during the Chrysler era there were nearly a dozen of the winged cars in town....

Really cool to find your old ride. Hope it finds it's way home one day.A great collectors piece ,but in these eyes, one ugly SOB. I understand that it was purpose built and looks weren't priority 1. I like the "unlucky" green.
